@aris: I missed our early days (as if dugay na no). I dropped by Allen and the traditional photography shop in USC Main. I was disappointed with the choices of the old cameras. It would be better to buy a film cam online.
I'm eyeing an Asahi Pentax SPII.
Good thing batteries for it are sold online: Spotmatic camera batteries 2 for Pentax or Asahi - eBay (item 220738256532 end time Feb-14-11 12:35:30 PST)

@edwin_sn: Thanks for dropping by. Sigh, why did I hesitate buying your SMC 50mm 1.4 T_T Lisod ra ba ni pangitaun ang SMC version although I'm not sure how different it really is from the non-SMC.

@nya: Schedule lang ta balik bai. Send me your cellphone number at 0929 609 8159 so I can inform you when. I want to go inside the Carbon wet market. Kutob rako gawas sa una. I shoot in full manual too. Aris and I learned the zone system and are more or less getting the right exposure in-cam but sometimes we do need to correct it.

If you guys are up to it, we can try a low light photowalk documenting street life at night, siguro 9pm up to 12 midnight for starters just to get our confidence level up for a subsequent longer duration. Uptown lang sa siguro ta para dili kaayo hadlok.
@cmontoya: Just inform me few days before, para ma check nako akong Sked. Check your Inbox, Pm'd you my Contact no.
nice shots bro.gi abog naman lang to ako camera oi, wala na jud ka gawas sa bag. hehehe

anad na kaau imu mata sa manual focusing sir. ako ng.anad2x pajd ko. i still have to get properly focused shots. dili taghap2x lng.![]()

@rockola: A bit. I had to learn manual focusing for two weeks when I first used a MF lens. Berto2x advised me to focus in and out until my eyes can differentiate contrast. Some of my acquaintances in http://www.mflenses.com/ also told me that I'll eventually learn how if I keep at it.
I can't say my MF skills are perfect because at 100% zoom, blur is certainly present. And I also have eye problems already. It would help if our viewfinder uses split screen technology.
See: Canon EOS 7D Split Screen Installation
I would be very happy if I can manually focus on chihuahuas or any fast moving object that doesn't stay in one place too long
What I've realized though is that while sharpness is important it's not the most important aspect of photography. I have not sharpened any of the photos in this thread although I'm afraid Flickr may have tampered with it (not sure if the rumor is true about Flickr sharpening the photos automatically using its own algorithm).
In fact, for my next photowalk, I'll focus on movement or action. I'm not sure if ISO 100 at f/16 would be dark enough to capture motion during the day. If not, I'll probably need an ND filter.
The key to photography is to conform, experiment, and hopefully find a style that is truly unique and difficult to copy so that when everyone sees your photo, they'll say, "That's Rockola's."
the compilation of photos in this thread is PHOTOGRAPHY at its most splendid form!

@teoding: LOL. While I certainly appreciate your kidney enlarging (Bisaya) or heart fattening (Tagalog) remark, I have yet a lot to learn to take photos like these: iN-PUBLiC | Picture of the Month
I tried to submit but murag wala ko nipasar. Murag lahi dyud na genre ang street photography and I haven't fully understood its essence. I think it's something I must do every week, to feel the pulse of the city to speak.
The photos in the above link may look ordinary to the untrained eye but this photo for example, definitely captured a pattern on the spot: iN-PUBLiC | Picture of the Month - 2002 June. A second before or after this shot would have been either too early or too late.
Mao ni ako gusto dyud i-master.
Or this one, iN-PUBLiC | Picture of the Month - 2003 February.
Blue collar vs white collar. White helmet vs bald heads![]()
bai kuyog ta photowalk since sigi raman ka puno ang mga photowalk dire
ato photowalk na theme is manual lens lang gamit,

@koto: You're back in Cebu (obviously). I thought you were in Manila bai. Nag-unsa man diay ka didto (tsismoso nako no)?
Ako sa unahon ako mga officemates na bago ra na-interesado photography. It's also a learning experience for me teaching newbies to take technically correct photos by understanding the relationship of aperture-shutter speed-ISO and their non-light related attributes. Then hopefully, they take the time to explore on their own the art of photography. Lisod man pud i-sulti sa ila what's good or what's bad kay lahi lahi man ta taste. I might tell them about rule of thirds, lead lines, negative/positive space, symmetry/asymmetry but it's up to them to practice. I need to practice myself, nag lawa lawa nako kay nabuang Gundam, ha ha.
I definitely look forward to having a manual focus lens only photowalk. Very few pa mi sa "Photos taken with manual focus only lenses" thread![]()
Keep on shooting.
