Default Re: NOT A GOOD DEVELOPMENT FOR CEBU BANDS

Whether it is true or not, the point is, our lokal bands have some problems in which they themselves do not know what to do, where to go or how to go about it.

My suggestion is: For all lokal bands to gather themselves and create a legitimate organization. I am challenging the matured bands to take the lead. Make rules and regulations, by laws to follow by the members. Set and regulate TF as per category. Kun naa'y problema ang usa ka banda, let them be represented in making complaints to the proper forum. It will also be easier for organizers kay naa na ma'y known point of contact for the lokal bands.

They can also hold workshops and seminars in basic music lessons and composition. I attended a seminar given by Joey Ayala and it was very good. It would make you feel good knowing that you have this talent in you. This will answer the issue on 'quality music' mga bro. We can not blame the new bands to sound so yabag (maglibug ka kun ang vox ba o ang instrument ang yabag) because they just grouped themselves, kanta-kanta while nag-inum and they came up with a song which they think is already very good. Utro pud ang DJ, wa kasabot ug yabag o dili, ipa-tukar lang pud dayon tungod lagi kay bisrock.

SCUM was like this before...but it disintegrated...lets face it...bands do not want to be ordered around, and as far as im concerned, they'd wanna learn shit themselves than being taught...

this will never happen....there are ongoing genre wars as we speak...some resort to just disses and cussin, some resort to even killing someone...i hope that if ever this happens, all conflicts are resolved...

A good number of organizations had come and gone and none of them ever made it up to the present. And, as what safeguard mentioned, S.C.U.M. was one of those who made it through a good number of years. The first SCUM was born circa 1991-1992. And for some reason, died down during the late 90s.

Sometime 1998-2001, there was a group which focused on Cebuano rock guitar players which was named Red House. I even joined some of the meetings and get-togethers / discussions during the time. Time passed and the organization just faded as if it never existed.

Armand Vailoces (ex-singer, Sikatuna Rappers) and some old officers of the first S.C.U.M. decided to revive the organization in 2002. All went well. They even did a number of concerts over at Fuente and in some places. Then one day, again, for some reason, it died down.

So you see, there was some development in music groups in Cebu. The only missing part of it all is dedication.

Sakto ka bawitski. Never ever judge a person right away. Naa nay mga reasons why ingon ani ila paglakad sa gigs.
For our part, lisud jud mahimong organizer. Before it was just all for fun just so i could have my friends play. But soon that all changed. Not only did i want to help my friends but so are the other starving local musicians here in cebu who arent given any opportunity to play and share their talents coz there werent much gigs here before. It's even a good thing now that there's a lot of productions out there trying to help out other bands.
You think producing gigs is that easy? Honestly speaking it aint easy at all. You'll encounter alot of problems from venues, bands everything.. kanang wa nimo gi expect mahitabo will bound to happen sooner or later and u just have to deal with it one way or another. Di jud lalim mag organize.
Not all productions have sponsors. Like our production. Some call it Indie pa gani. Well you can say that our venues have their own sponsors but that doesnt mean we get all the money and we get something from them. wa jud. We too have other things to pay.. like the venue, the instruments and of course the free food and drinks we give to bands. We don't give tf's but just food and drinks mao na jud na amoa ever since. We even use our own money sometimes for the expenses for that gig.. like posters, flyers, tickets and etc. But did we ever complain? NOPE we do it coz we LOVE doing it. It's not about the money, it's all about the MUSIC (right shoeless? hehehe)
We should all be thankful that there are still people who are willing to help without getting anything in return. Just gaining respect and appreciation from people is already a BIG reward for me. I never ask for anything more. Being of help to others is what I love doing and that's not going to change... for a long time
