that means:

100 X 17, 000 = 1,700,000

.. i wonder who gets the biggest share.

.. it turns out this aint a Board of Nursing problem but the PRC itself. It's a damn lucrative business, you can imagine paying 1,700 ( on my case at least ) just to register to take the Board. That 1,700 is for the text materials and payment for the exam venue. Let's do some math here,

42, 000 x 1,700 = 71,400,000 = seventy one million, four hundred thousand pesos... that's for the registry alone.

para lang nako, pasalamat ko nga dili ko nursing ang akong course. hehehe hay ambot lang aning board exam sa nursing. wa ko paki-alam anah.

@archer: you don't need to take the cgfns... sometyms for playing it safe they let them take it coz its 1 of the requirements in certain states... i never took the philippine board nor the cgfns bcoz of my status here in the US...i know some states that doesn't need cgfns and all you need is to take the nclex unless they changed their requirements from the last tym....

Provincial schools veering away from nursing after scandal

BAGUIO CITY -- Some colleges and universities in the provinces are putting nursing in the backseat in favor of agriculture and computer courses.

This appeared to be the common direction some schools were taking in Northern Luzon, Southern Tagalog, the Visayas and Mindanao, based on their output at a conference last week that tried to match world labor trends with college courses, said alternative teaching advocate Henry Tenedero.

Tenedero heads the Center for Learning and Teaching Styles (CLTS) Philippines, which organized the conference attended by representatives of 180 universities and colleges. The group advocates new teaching approaches.

The nursing student who testified against Cordero needs our support. He has been harrassed. And being in protective custody means he has now limited freedom to do things he normally does and his financial capacity will be now be limited. Let other witness comes out because the more you are the lesser the threat and the easier the culprit will be put in jail.

* Kung sa ako ni nahitabo, ako pa mo volunteer to re take. kay ngano? for my sake oi. I will clear my name and my record. and when i get my license as an RN, ako gyud ipa laminate. Imagine kaduha gud ko ni take para lang sa license!

What about those who really passed honestly on the first take, but for some reason failed on the retake? Are we to assume na nandaya sila nung first time?

Also, for those who passed honestly on the first take, but failed on the retake, they will have to take the exam a third time in order to secure their license. That means more expenses. How about those who come from poor families? How about those who already mortgaged their properties so their kids could finish nursing school, then because of some people who thoughtlessly clamor "retake, retake", nalintikan na naman ang butas na butas nang bulsa nila.

A retake will not do way with the stigma, because a retake will not pinpoint who really cheated in the first take. Worse, it could only shift the stigma from one set of innocent people to another. It will also impose more hardships and injustice on the parents who cannot afford to shell out more (borrowed) money. I remember when the TRO on the oathtaking was handed down, many parents wept. Let's not forget na pawis at dugo ang puhunan ng maraming magulang dito.

What will remove the stigma and show the world that we do not tolerate such acts is if the culprits are punished as they deserve. Otherwise, we will only be imposing more hardship and injustice not just on the students but also their parents.
