Of course it is expensive. Its features are intended for large enterprises. But...hmmm... I am wondering why you even talk about the cost when I already have pointed out that the Oracle Express Edition is FREE and its features is more than enough for a "small" deployment in a small business enterprise. In other words, compared to other "free" database backends, it's worth looking into.
di man pang dagko nga companies ra ang oracle. Naa man cla for small corporations, limited lang kong pla ka users or no of CPU's.Originally Posted by caster_troy

Just use MS Access if dili kaau daghan ang users(less 10,concurrent) and dili grabe ang data processing. Basta not too complex nga application.
Use Access Forms para dali maka develop ug GUI. Just split the forms and tables and create table links for client-server.
You may you favorite programming language to develop the interface if you like.
And yes, daghan pa nag develop and nag use sa MS Access.
In addition sa Oracle Express Ed., there are Interbase, MSDE, MSSQL Express(2005), MySQL & PosGre.
About Oracle Express, resource lang jud siya. So if you wanna test it sa ordinary workstation, you cant install it kay dako requirments. But if have a powerfull PC or have a server then it's really ok. Oracle has so many good features.
But for now, I would recommend DB2 express edition. Yes, it's free.
MelodyMan, need help in formulating Access-based program on XP system. pls call 4149578, txt 09208140716 n look for erwin or email at rosserwin@yahoomail.com. I've small business but very extensive in transactions with around 100 accounts daily so a database program is what i should have para once lang mag-encode sa daily transactions and corresponding later payments whether full or partial payments na updated at any given day or time.
Bro, I replied to ur PM and mali akong answer. Sorry about that. I'll try to call you lunch time today if naa ko time. Sorry dugay reply.Originally Posted by recanada

hi i dont know if this is the right thread to post, i wanna learn access and oracle. which s easier and how much sad? who offers tutorials here? dont have any background sa programming or database pero i can make up for it with enthusiasmXHHÅ’
Before I use MS Access in Win98 peru grabe mo hang bcoz of the OS. Pagbalhin nako sa MySQL and Linux, wala na jud ni hang, unya mas paspas pa jud! Dili lang kana, barato pa jud kaayo kay pulos free
btw, i was able to run msaccess in debian and in linspire. single user lang ha.
the free ones are better jud. but to start with database, i would suggest you start with ms access. it way simple than any other Rdbms. naa pa jud forms, reports, query that you can work with. even non IT people are using MS Access. I actually appreciated database when I learned MS Access. Press F1 and you dont need internet connection and other Ebooks to learn the software and database. I started with Cobol & DBase and kapoy kaau.hehe. Then moved to programming after learning the MS Access modules...Just a thought.
