Why does Romance Genre Anime involves two guys competing for one girl.. the girl often acts dumb... and mostly it involves tragic events... well most shoujo genre...

I highly recommend Lovely Complex (Love★Com). It's a romantic comedy about a taller-than-average girl and a shorter-than-average boy.

Clannad (though its 2nd season is waaayyy diff. and better than the 1st- skip the 1st nlng if pwede. Maka hilak kaau!) and Kimi ni Todoke (if you're looking for an anime that's simply sweet).
