    If we let abusive people get away with their crime, they will victimize other people in the future. Forgiveness does not mean the person shouldn't suffer the consequences. If someone is really remorseful about asking forgiveness, then he should be prepared to suffer the consequences of his actions, otherwise it's all just an act and vain attempt to avoid punishment. He doesn't really regret what he did, he only regrets that he encountered someone who fought back...

    When police officers are abusive to a member of the public the crime is against the public and the State as a whole, as such it is not enough that the victim wants to forgive the policeman, the policeman still has to be punished because his abuse is a perverse act against the State and the public he is supposed to serve...
