One prof in our Lit class has influenced me of the likes of F Sionil Jose, Ninotchka Rosca, Arlene Chai and Eric Gamalinda coz of its post-martial law backdrop. When I read some of their works, it gave me a whole new perspective on how it was like when were under the tyrannic hands of Marcos and his goal for a New Society being that I grew up with my grandparents telling me how much of a hero Marcos is to the Filipinos.
As for heart-wrenching dramas ever told, I'd still go for Erich Segal because it talks about family and relationships. There was never a dull moment for me reading his works coz it has always been a page-turner for me.
To keep abreast with the "hip" and to understand the youth I'm dealing with, I must say I appreciated the works of Stephanie Meyer who did the Twilight Saga, my fave was New Moon since i'm a sucker for dark tragedy and misery all-in-one lols... then after that book, my interest on the series somehow waned and never got to finish Breaking Dawn.
