The 10 yr old girl was just lucky to have been looking at hear scope, at that particular time, and at that particular side of the earth to have seen that event.

Nope. Like most human SN discoveries (not robotic), the discovery was made after photo review/analysis. The girl was looking at the photos, noticed the spot, and told her dad "Hey, is this one?"
