accent is easy to learn because you can get that from listening to people talk or watch the local media to train yourself. the problem is grammar. sometimes, naay grammar nga technical or by the book ra kaau ang not used in everyday conversation. hence ma-ilhan gyud kang beginner in that particular language. ergo, what you learn in school provides the foundation of your language learning skills and then adapt to the common use within acceptable limits. you can also learn the "slang" or street language as it were, but don't make it part of your vocabulary kay maglibog na hinuon ka kung asay sakto o dili.
