ahaka pud ana wui..entry level dslr lng bai sayang ang power sa D90 sa imong need hahahha
ilis lng ta sa ako D3100 ohh crispy pa au
i'm an amateur dslr user. just bought my d90 last halloween.. i had this old sony digicam which i seldom used before just for ordinary use. i sometimes use my phone's camera just to take a picture. then i decided to upgrade to a newer cam. was thinking of getting the a newer p&s sony but since the price was already near the d90, i squeezed my budget and decided to go for it.
up until now, i never regretted getting it. it made me appreciate more the essence of "capturing the moment". i myself travel a lot and when i'm not tired, i take pictures of the places i've been. i get satisfaction when i scroll back at the pictures of my adventures that i have taken. especially when travelling, i never get tired of shooting the same view or location since each time i visit it needs a different setting i.e. day shot, afternoon or night. although i'm still a newbie, if i have time, i practice shooting to work on my so noob skills.
my advice, if you have the budget, go for the d90.. or a dslr of your choice for that matter. either way, you'll have better results than a p&s cam. just my 2 cents.. =)

If you ultimately decide to go into photography, meaning you have the patience, time and means, go for the D90. otherwise, if you'll only use the cam for travel and snapshots, go with the G12 or the LX-5. The only advantage that DSLRs have over P&S cameras is the ability to swap lenses and the high pixel count. Image quality-wise, to the untrained eye, there's no difference. Especially if you only use the shots for facebook.
Regarding taking pictures of your baby, all you need to do is know how to operate the camera on Manual Mode. It won't matter if you're using a DSLR or a P&S. Just know your camera.
is superzoom image quality really that bad?
was thinking of the canon sx3 or maybe the panasonic FZ100
zoom capabilities will help man gud sa situation kay ako anak 8 years old
looking sa D90 or D3100 hehehe
ok ra man ang d90 pang travel2x pero bulky gyud ang slr bay.
basin ma stress ka nga nag guroy pa sa imong maleta then naa
pay bug-at nga gibitbit. :3 if you dont mind the weight, oks ra kaayo.
if not, i suggest you get the G10/11/12 :3
based on my experience with the D90 and both the 18-105 and 18-200 lenses, ok ra ang 18-105 for an all around zoom lens. Me and my dad use it to cover parties. However, sa graduation sa ako manghud, kulang ra cya cuz we were so far away, which is why when my next sis graduated, I got my hands on an 18-200 (borrowed). Ok ra kaayo.
Is it worth the cost? Because we already had the 18-105, not really. If we hadn't bought the 18-105, the 18-200 would have been worth every cent. You'll also have to consider, most of these events are in low light. This is where an f/2.8 lens would come in handy, except they cost an arm and a leg.
If I were in your situation, I'd go with the LX-5 and just crop the image.
take note pod TS... if you buy a DSLR nya adto ra gihapon ka mo set sa Auto... hehehe wala ra gihapoy gamit. gamay ra difference sa P&S ang kuha.
To add note if you go the DSLR path prepare for the unending gastosLX-5 or G10/11/12 is still the way to go for your needs.
