Thread: avr issue

    i dont think nga necessary pa ang avr. i'm using only a surge protector for 2 years and i havent encountered any problem. the only thing that made generic avr's cost P300+ is the 110v transformer. try opening a generic avr and you can see that its worth less than 30 pesos without the transformer. surge protector is enough to protect your system because it protects your psu from spikes or the sudden rise of voltage above the peak voltage. this spikes causes sudden rush of current that could destroy electronic components. electronic components are mostly destroyed by high voltage rather than low voltage because higher voltage means greater force to push the electrons. its like a pacman who could take a punch from el terrible but what if he's being punched by a mike tyson. if the peak voltage is exceeded it could cause leaks and deformations of the doped material. ripple voltage are not very critical because this could be eliminated by the regulator in powersupplies as long as it doesnt exceed the peak, then there's nothing to worry. but if you can afford an avr, then go ahead buy one.

    Klarohon lng nato ha ang surge protector yes sakto" it protects your psu from spikes or the sudden rise of voltage above the peak voltage", but what about low voltage and current fluctuations this is the very main reason we use and AVR and the AVR serves that main purpose.

    @omad
    pre ang AVR with servo mahal mahal ni gamay sa compare sa mga tag P350 to P500 na avr, gamay nalang kulng pwede naning ma UPS pero sa akong tan-aw daghan ang kinahanglan nimo so daku pud ug budget unya na ma allocate, pwede na ang generic. Duna sad gani high wattage na AVR like 2000W dakudaku ug bug-at2x na gyud ni, kaya nani mo run ug 4 to 5 ka PC, make sure lng 220V ang output kay naa pud rabay 110V na output ani, price ani cguro mga P3000+ and up, mas maka barato ka ani sa AC/DC naa sa mananili atbang ana ang usa pud ka store name "Advance" pwede nimo check ning duha ug my on stock ba, mga electonic store mani.

    ^^ thanks for the additional inputs. yeah, I've heard of AC/DC and Advance. those were the shops I bought my speakers from when I had somebody build my old sound system before in HS. I'll have somebody check the prices on servo and non servo based AVR's, UPS's etc so I'll have a good idea on what to buy 'coz I need a couple of UPS's and about 4 dozen AVR's.

    @franklin depends on how highend your system is bro, kung top of the line imong specs then atleast 5 drives in total, imong PSU dli mag dugay ana. PSU's dont have the full function of a AVR. if an AVR is not needed then why do people bother to invest on it so much.

    i havent heard people who are investing so much on avr's for pcs, maybe ups siguro or avr sa refs og uban appliances hinuon. if high end siguro ang imong pc, mas ok if mu invest ka og high end nga powersupply instead of an expensive avr. dili gyud na magdugay imong psu if mu palit ka og nindot nga avr unya generic nga powersupply unya grabe au ang load. ni ingon man gud to aku teacher sa una sa basic electronics nga ang kasagaran makaguba og electronic parts kay kana gyud mga spikes kay usahay dagko kaayo ang increase sa voltage sometimes more than a hundred volts. short ra ang span of time aning mga spikes pero if magsige gani ni, dili gyud magdugay bisan unsang electrical/electronic equipment. i have used an avr before pero tanaw naku wala may gamit kay inig low voltage mag pawng man gihapon aku pc so i decided to get rid of it kay gamay ra og outlets unya ni palit ko powerstrip with many outlets nga naay surge protector para masaksak naku ang tanang periperals and salamat sa diyos, wala pa ko naka encounter og problema. aku gani mga friends powerstrip kanang tag 120 ra gani aku gipagamit so far wala man cla reklamo. pero ga base ra ko sa akong expierence ha wala ko nag assure nga safe kaayo if wala avr

    PSU's arnt made to handle prolonged periods of fluctutations and low voltages, ofcourse highend gyud nga PSU e paris sa AVR, altho maski naa pakay PCP&C nga 1.2KWatt nga PSU maayo gihapon mag invest ka on a good AVR instead of a generic AVR nga step-up/stepdown ray voltage naa. In other where ilang voltage sa grids grabi ka stable no need for an AVR, diri sa cebu namely sa labangon area,, grabi ka low ang voltage basta gabii.

    di ba ang bag-o ron nga psu wa nay voltage selector. 90~264v (auto range) kaya ra. kung ing-ani guro imong psu ups na lang guro imong kinahanglan.
