I think I already answered it.
It's the cosmic symbolism of winter solstice the reason why they selected the birth of Christ.
Though they were aware nga pagans called this day the "birthday" of Sol Invictus, did not concern them and it did not play any role in their choice of date for Christmas.
quote again:
"In the first few centuries, when pagan temples were knocked down and replaced by Catholic basilicas, when pagan holidays days were transformed into memorials to the martyrs, saints, and the Lord, there was no misconception about what was taking place. It was an absolute triumph of the Church over paganism. The winter solstice was the astronomical event, written into God’s creation as well as the calendar, used to commemorate Christ’s coming as "The Light of the World."
Mas grabe pa gali ang New Year kay it was the tribute to the Roman God Janus. But now, we just consider it as the New beginning of another calendar year. No more religious significance.
Hinuon, dili manka mo-too ug New Year.
By the way, unsa man diay inyong gi-celebrate ra? Or pwede ra i-celebrate? If I may ask?
Pwede enumerate?
And one more thing.
Most of our traditional children stories, movies are based from pagan root like Walt Disney's Little Mermaid (Triton), Hercules, Atlantis.. Or even Marvel like Thor.. Does it mean these are all evil and should not be watched by kids?
