^^A Customer Preview Program for Vista RC1 will be available for people to sign up and download... same as what Mickeysoft did for Beta 2 a few months ago.

thanks for the heads-up apperently the system dev version of the RC1 was already released Aug 14, read on some other forum.Originally Posted by obemon
hopefully that irons out a lot of bugs for an early RC build. and maybe that 12months time line will be a reality for vista to release.
Different versions of Vista require different systems. All in all, Vista scales pretty well from lower end machines and takes advantage of more beefy systems.
I personally am not going to buy Vista until I get a new system even though my current system can run it with ease ... paying the money to get only a couple things I personally want (Aero & unified search) is a waste.
i think even if vista includes its so-called "optimized code", any device that's not fully vista ready will somehow affect the overall system performance. lucky for those lower end machines which will have available vista driver for its devices.Originally Posted by EarlZ
I'm not anymore the kind of guy who'll want to spend time evaluating Betas, RCs or evaluations whenever there's a new product from Microsoft. i'm not a system dev working closely with M but i do receive lots of updates from microsoft as part of subcriptions. that includes system and application servers RCs. I test a few ONLY when i get really curious like when there's a real breakthrough in technology or if i find it useful for the company. Otherwise, what i read in the net is enough and i'd rather spend my time reading posts here at istorya. this site is really full of interesting people.. "from people with simple minds to those with complex ones".
so again.. my computers will have to wait til the release of vista drivers from some manufacturers and the release version of vista. no rush.
Actually for me no reason .. I cant hardly afford to upgrade components on my box! How much more to buy a new licensed OS .. so as of now ill stick with my open source OS!

i agree, we'll have to wait then on what might the outcome of that new OS, basig ma pareha lang nya na sa Longhorn....Originally Posted by BadDudes

I don't think it's worth the money....
It won't run my Nero 7.
Some of the movies in F.E.A.R. wouldn't display, just got a black screen.
Can't detect my modem.
I think we will need to upgrade to Vista when all the applications will need it. As of now, I reinstalled my Win x64 on dual boot with Kubuntu 64 bit.
With Microsoft getting so expensive I'm leaning more and more towards open source.![]()
Longhorn is a code name for windows vista =)Originally Posted by chival324

and as of switching to vista, I wouldnt advice it unless you have good specs, pag wait nlng nga ok na imong specs para sa vista. but in the long run, everyone will switch to vista, kay the new developments will be in that platform.
and if the rumor is true, purchasing an original vista will be a must , kay murag daghan siyag features and benefits na magamit lng nimo, if retail imong version AND connected ka sa ilang server. and its also one way of combatting piracy.
you can choose what features you would like to have for a minimal monthly fee or one time charge. But MS is still studying this, but I wouldnt be surprised if this will push through, since even for office 2007 beta, you need to pay a small fee to try it
Windows Genuine Advantage is their current response to piracy, but its very easy to avoid since right now you dont need to connect that much to a MS server, but if the plan for Vista will push through, dato jud ug samot c bill gates ani![]()
vista? yucks!
