Is Sony's top semipro OK?

The great majority of digicams at present use CCDs. But Sony has just opted to replace the CCD with CMOS, which has long been in use in Canon DSLRs (don't know lang whether Nikon also uses CMOS, pero Olympus still uses CCD). CMOS is more advantageous and offers greater resolution and less noise. What do you think of the new Sony that replaces its former top of the line F828? And Sony also uses Carl Zeiss lenses. I'm still a believer in the superiority of German optics: Carl Zeiss (used by Sony), Leica (used by Panasonic), and Schneider-Kreuznach (used by Kodak and Samsung). Pero it's been said the Japanese learned from the Germans and improved on their know-how.

you skipped a generation actually, the Sony R1 is the replacement for the 828 and it uses a 10 megapixel CMOS sensor.

the latest Sony digicam is the Alpha A-100 dSLR which uses a 10 megapixel CCD sensor which could possibly be the same
sensor Sony supplies for the Nikon D200... which has already been proven to produce high quality pictures!

I jsut wonder if the in-camera processing that Sony has is as good as Nikon's?

Dawn at an old temple moat finds this local farmer taking his cattle out to graze. The Alpha's maximum ISO rating of 1600, coupled with its Super Steadyshot function, made this ultra-low light shot possible for me.

yep..350D in the US is only $750.. 39, 750 kung i convert to peso ($1=53)..Canon shops are selling this cam here for 44-49K =(

Got my sony alpha yesterday ... not impressed mas nindot pa Canon 30D. It has poor low light performance, visible noise at iso 800+. Oh well... might just be sending this to my brother ... btw. mahal ang lens! ... I would rather go for the sony r1 instead.
