@springfield ...riverbend was educated at Baghdad University and worked for a large computer company before the war...morag na apil ni siya sa hut-ong sa katilingban nga educated...and sophisticated didto sa Iraq...mao tingali maayo kaayo siya mo iningles....
@ GWYNN .... point taken regarding RIVERBEND as an EDUCATED IRAQI . That was what she said ? I just wish they all come out and identify themselves other than their pen names but they wont and they cant do that .
When the occupation began , I am for it because it was for the benefit of the Iraqi people . Saddam will be tried for his crime to humanity .
When Saddam was gone , the troops are still there for the reformation of the government and lift the people where Saddam left them .
Now the government is formed and functioning , rebels and islamic radicals , inusrgents are still there . Is it still the US responsibility to stay and have there presence there to neutralized them as master at arms of the UN ?

I've read some of her blogs on that site, and by those I can see what's happening in Iraq thru her eyes. I would read some more maybe this weekend if time permits. by then I would have a good grasp of what her story is all about, by then I'll know the untold stories of those who are suffering. stories of those who got caught in between the conflict, those who are constantly threatened. stories of those who had their relatives killed, raped or dismembered. stories that would have gone unnoticed if not for the courage of one Riverbend.
maybe then I could give my opinion on that particular blog.
maybe then I could determine if indeed "Baghdad Burning" is
a good read.. a great read.. or so much more..
'coz as they say, a couple of pages won't give justice to a story.
such that it won't give justice to Riverbend's story.
so better read the whole blog before making any judgements.
... and that's exactly what I'm gonna do

^^ha ha ha...mao lagi oi...pero i know sayon para nimo ang Baghdad Burning kay electronic man....
@ OMAD your points are very well taken as a CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM . My point also is , not just because you felt it thru her eyes , it does not convince me totally because a GOOD RESEARCHER is a GOOD WRITER . Look at DAN BROWN , he was not really present nor physically on the spot of all the detailed subjects he wrote in his mind boggling novels but look at the outcome It became so CONTROVERSIAL because of the detail as if he was really there nor a fictitious character was created w/c is his ALTER EGO . He really felt and knew what he is saying because of some SOURCES and RESEARCHES .
Just by claims of credentials , being an educated Iraqi woman , book was nominated , was physically there will only convince me HALFWAY of the TRUTH for the key to TRUTH on the issue is her IDENTITY w/c will topple the credentials , books was nominated , being an educated Iraqi by HIS or HER REPUTATION as a SOURCE . We are not even sure yet of RIVERBEND'S gender also w/c is not the case .
Though you are right , a few PAGES wont JUSTIFY anything about the BOOK so I am now also in stages of reading the blog of RIVERBEND . Thanks for the inputs .

let's veer down to another "sub-topic" of this thread for awhile.. for intermission sake..
bush points out in a press conference, monday, that pulling out troops from iraq would be a WRONG move for it would "increase the risk of domestic attack.."
Bush: Democrats wrong on Iraq
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The attitude of many Democrats on Iraq -- a quick pullout of U.S. troops -- shows a lack of understanding of world politics and increases the threat of attacks in the United States, President Bush said Monday.
