Bringing Dogs into the Show Ring...

As more and more people are taking interest in dogs and showing them, let us use this thread to share our experiences and help newbies get into the show ring.

let's discuss everything, from buying/choosing a show quality dog, maybe give advices on who are the up and coming breeders from whom we can buy show quality dogs. Also discuss the maintenance, training and then preparation, techniques in showing dogs. Probably also share what products you use on your dogs, etc....and probably also discuss how to champion a dog. how many points is needed and what are the steps to becoming a PHIL CH dog, PHIL GR CH and getting into the Hall of Fame.

share your experiences and expertise.....sooner or later, we will have more entries in our local dog shows!

first, start with picking the right show dog.
second, keep your show dog healthy and well-conditioned.
3rd, train him/her on "heeling" and "stacking" - both table and free stacking.
4th, watch dogshows videos/clips to get acquainted with the mechanics.
5th, read read read about show mechanics.
6th, enjoy enjoy enjoy... dont get carried away by the "heat" of the contest. you are there to enjoy your dog and thats the way it should be. do not compete with other dog owners as there will always be another dog that is better or lesser than yours.

ph ch - you need 15pts with 2 majors (major pts are 3-5pts per ring)
ph gr ch - 25pts starting from zero (from being ph ch) should be 2 majors also.
pg hof - 100pts, carried over from you ph gr ch pts.

when you have achieved the number of points for ph ch, do you have to report this to pcci through an application or something....? or do they automatically do it for you?

they will automatically give the points to ur dogs since ila man na e record. Ikaw lng ang mocall sa PCCI to confirm if pila na ka points ang na gain sa imo dog.

ah ok...then will they automatically reissue pcci papers with the ph ch title or is there a fee for that?

Free ra ang certificate indicating nga ang dog Ch,Gr Ch, HOF na. Pero if u like ang PCCI papers niya ma upgrade na think naa charge, think 260 ila fee
