In most cases, they do not choose to. Rather, they just find themselves getting attracted to such guys. Like they are under a kind of spell.

Agree, I can't believe it at first. So you are like the one I'm dating right now... I tried like the one TS is implying, not good enough. Did some research but still not good enough.
One last resort is, I'm just being myself and it work well.
