    Default Router as DHCP server?

Kinsa'y mga network administrators/engineers diri? Naa ko question. When do you use your router as a DHCP server?

I have worked with 4 companies already and 3 of them has a dedicated Windows Server machine for DHCP. Only 1 of them is using their router as DHCP server, nya nag gamit pa jud sila VOIP.

Any explanations will be much appreciated...

It depends on the setup bro; mainly they use more of the Windows server for protection and encryption... and other Security stuff... The router may serve as secondary or back-up only.

nag libog ko ngano ing ana ilang design nga call center man unta sila.. tuga tuga implement ug VOIP nya di kahibaw mo follow sa standard guidelines gi set sa vendor (Avaya). No wonder why bati kaayo ang voice quality sa ila softphones usahay. and sauna cge sad ka down ila network nga usahay dugay kaayo ma-up. gi time-man to nako, i think at least 15mins or more sila down. ambot lng kaha karon. sauna curious jud kau ko ngano to, karon pa nako na realize ug nahibaw an.. mao diay...

Router as dhcp server? why not. pwedi kaau.

kinahanglan lang ang router nga gamiton kanang jud nga design na pang production with the correct software loaded.

Avaya is one of the first vendor nga nag introduce ug voip.

i don't have experience working in callcenter but segi ko ug visit halos tanan call center diri cebu labi nag naay trouble, magagmay ug madagko... mostly all network nila are managed remotely from abroad, halos di kalabot ng on duty nga IT, kinahanglan pa mananghid which is normal na nga process.

anyway, there is what they call "network design engr." depende na niya gi-unsa na niya iyang network.
