lets take into account that we're talking about midrange android phones and not the high end models which have superb specs and are very capable of any updates that android will be releasing in the future..
yup, you're right..my RAM is just 128mb compared to the Galaxy 5 which is 256mb(im using this comparison kay i know you own a Galaxy 5 handset)..pero thats why i rooted my phone, because i can do alot more than what official updates can offer..and no,my phone is not sluggish..in fact its way faster now with the samdroid turbo mod and the spica has a 800MHz processor whilst the Galaxy 5 only has 600MHz..and yes,my phone supports flash even if its 2.1 because it comes with samdroid kitchen mod after rooting it..

newer model doesnt necessarily mean better..sometimes its a matter of business..we should always remember that phone companies are not just making handsets to satisfy customers but also to make money..even if i've had my spica for just 2 months pa,i would consider the model almost a year old since 2009 pani gi-release..and since i've rooted my phone, i have accepted that fact that there will be no official update to 2.2 or newer os versions..but try to see if the Galaxy 5 will be able to get updates later than 2.2?because i don't really know if it will, considering our two handsets are only midrange phones and Samsung clearly doesn't give too much of a thought for their midrange line as they usually give their attention more to the high end models..because although Google releases the basic os update for andorid, its the phone companies' responsibility to package that basic os update with the other necessary software to make it run on their android handsets..its like a marketing scheme..why buy the spica when its just til 2.1?go for the galaxy 5 because its upgradeable to 2.2..unya diay to in the future kutob rasad 2.2 ang galaxy 5(speculation rani ha,i don't know if its true)..and mao sad siguro di nila himuan ug 2.2 update ang spica para mahalin pud ilang newer midrange android phone models..
im not trying to let down asay mas nindot na model ha,its just a comparison lang..

and frankly,i would even suggest you root your phone too para you will see first hand why its a really good choice to root your phone..
