pag inyong sweldo in dollars, demand mo na ipaconvert sa peso para kung motaas/moubos ang dollar fix ra gihapon.
Tinuod, up and down, including the peso/dollar forex. Pero ang general trend will be for the peso to appreciate because of OCW remittances. Unlike China whose currency is pressured to appreciate vs the US dollar because of the strength of their exports of goods made in china, in the philippines, our appreciation is not based on goods we export but by OCW's that we "exported". But unlike China where due to the strength of MANUFACTURING that provides employment for their population, ang sa ato, wala, we hardly have any strong manufacturing that we can export on a big scale. Furniture? Pildi na ta sa Malaysia ug China. Sa electronics? We basically import the rawmat and we assemble it here as another material or a part of a finished product, if not the finished product. But all we contribute to that product is more of labor. We do export mining stuff like nickel, but these are considered low value in the value chain. Not much added value.
Delikado ang appreciation of the peso nato due to OCW because mas daghan nga locals ang dili makakita ug tarong nga trabaho. All we have being sold here are smuggled imported products that employ maybe 5 people to sell that imported product rather than such product being manufactured here and employing hundreds, if not thousands of worker PER product.
Opportunity nani...
Mr. Tetangco would surely do its best to safeguard our exporters. For those USD earners, I suggest dont convert all your USD to peso, just convert enough for expenses and save it on time deposit bahala gamay. Our bank is offering $1,000 at 1.625% for 30days, its better than .5% interest. By the way, our USD savings account opening is only $500 but I can bring it down to $100.
Dont have a peso account for your USD kai naka auto convert na and it has a difference of 1 to 2peso against the black market.
For this year the best USD to Peso Conversion was end of March to June 2010 and some on July to August. For next year, Im seeing the same. For this time, its the best time to buy
