For weeks now, the local music industry circle has been abuzz with rumors that rock and alternative music station DWNU 107.5 will shut down in the next three months. Rumor has it that the station's main man, Atom Henares, has already sold his shares of the Progressive Broadcast Corporation (the network that operates NU 107.5).

Although the exact reason for Henares’s decision remains unclear, music industry prognosticators have been seeing trends of “high-end, niche-market radio stations” being replaced by ones that cater to a more “mass market audience.” It is no secret that the latter format gets a larger share of the audience and revenues from advertisers, which is the main source of business for radio broadcasting companies.

Dubbed as the “Home of New Rock” or “N-U” by its loyal followers, the station has been around since the late '80s, when the station first played an exciting mix of new wave and harder-edged rock music. Over the years, NU 107 has been instrumental in ushering a new breed of local artists and musicians such as The Dawn, Identity Crisis, Eraserheads, Parokya Ni Edgar, P.O.T., Wolfgang, Razorback, Urbandub, among others.

hopefully indie ang nu107 cebu,coz from what i've heard, they still get their lifeblood(or at least part of it) from NU107 Manila.Oh well.Another one will take the throne from now on.

same goes for killer bee, sauna rock ug alternative then suddenly nahimong disco.

Lisud mopadagan ug business sa Pinas labi na sa Music kay ang Pinas home of revival songs and other asian pop. wala na ang identity sa tinuod nga pinoy music. Mao ni lisud mabuhi ang istasyon labi na mocater sa rising rock stars.
