The Cebu City Anti-Indecency Board yesterday seized thousands of pornographic DVDs sold at the downtown area.

CCAIB chairman Dr. Lucille Mercado led the team of policemen and personnel from the city treasurer's office during the raid at around 3:00 p.m. inside the Vision theater compound.

The team, which was divided into two groups, swooped down the compound and confiscated 3, 250 pieces of pornographic DVDs.

"This time we will be penalizing them. For any stalls na makitan natu na namaligya ug porn DVD's they will be penalized," Mercado said.

A similar raid was also conducted by CCAIB last week wherein a total of 3,500 pornographic DVD's were seized.

Even if the stalls subject of the raid were selling pirated DVDs which is also illegal, but CCAIB operatives only confiscated the pornographic movies and materials.

Some stall-owners who noticed the presence of CCAIB operatives ahead were able to close their shops even before the team could search their stalls.

"Nganung manira man ka if you are not hiding anything? So i-apil jud to nato sila ug fine," Mercado assured.

One of the store owners admitted that when CCAIB raided them last week they were already warned not to sell pornographic materials.

But despite the warning most of them continue to sell pornographic DVD's.

All the confiscated DVD's will be destroyed at 11 a.m. today with Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama in front of the City Hall.

my idea for this....wala judni gamit..dili gihapon ni ma stop..same rani sa mga pirated dvds...everything is on the net..dali ra kaayo mag download bisag unsa...ang PC karon nagkabarato, ang internet subscription nagka barato, ang internet cafes nag paubsanay og presyo....
Ako pa aning CAIB...ang ila unahon ang mga tighimo or ang mga supplier aning mga cds...and dapat e ban ang mga porno sites sa whole Philippines..dapat mo coordinate sila sa mga internet providers na e ban...example is SINGAPORE...you can not surf porno sites leh...stricto kaayo leh..

but sa torrent..pwede gihapon lah....hehehe..wala sila kabantay..

Piracy is naturally illegal.

It's odd that one group would raid pornographic DVDs only, and leave the other pirated DVDs alone.

Perhaps discussing additional authority or legal measures for them would be good since they are not an anti-piracy team.

How about the anti-piracy team working in tandem with CAIB?

so bisan unsa ka strict ang government sa Singapore..naa gihapon kalusot...that is why..useless lang na raid raid nila sa colon kay mobalik ra gihapon na...mo result rani nuon og more corruption between sa CAIB og sellers..Mas maayo putlon jud ang punuan...dili ang mga sanga..
