I always wondered what it means for a product to be BFAD-approved/registered.

Asides from the obvious, what does BFAD registered mean? Did the product have to go through rigorous testing before it can be BFAD-registered? Do all imported products have to be BFAD-registered? How does BFAD registered and BFAD approved differ? Can you sell something like medicine without BFAD registration? How does BFAD registration work?

I think the product has to go through rigorous testing jud kay madaot man ang BFAD if mahibaw-an makadaot diay ang product nga ilang gi-approve.

As to the difference between registered and approved..wa ko kahibaw..bitaw no..ngano kaha lain2x man?

CPR? wala pa ko ka bantay ani na mark sa products. tan.awon pud nya nako. salamat sa input guys. maka-libog lagi kung unsa pasabot sa BFAD registered & approved ug kung naka-agi ba ug testing on efficacy ba ni sila

What does BFAD registered mean?
For me, it means approved by BFAD (conforming to their standards and having complied with the rules and regulations governing the registration of the product).

Did the product have to go through rigorous testing before it can be BFAD-registered?
You have to provide all needed documents as listed in their requirements. One requirement for food example, is the analysis of the finished product. They have a list of approved laboratories where you can have the product tested/analyzed.

How does BFAD registered and BFAD approved differ?
I think once a product is registered, it is considered approved. (BFAD goes over the submitted documents and will inform you if there are deficiencies for you to comply in order to complete the process of registration). Once approved, they will issue the Certificate of Product Registration (CPR).

Can you sell something like medicine without BFAD registration?
That’s with the risk of being caught. It’s like driving without license. Hehe…

The CPR is the actual document that the BFAD issued to certify that the product as undergone all the requirements for registration. It's kinda like getting registered with LTO (BFAD Registration) for driving. After you pass the exams and submit the requirements, you finally get your driver's license (which is the CPR).
