AMD Radeon HD 6870 20% faster than the GeForce GTX 460 1GB
Monday, 11 October 2010 News - Graphic Cards
The news kitchen Fudzilla has come with some interesting informations about AMD's upcoming Radeon HD 6870 graphic card, which is expected to be 20% faster than NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 460 1GB card, but not that much faster than the HD 5870.
The Barts XP based HD 6870 is in fact the successor of the HD 5770 card. AMD apparently decided to push the naming forward, due to the performances of the Barts XP graphic cards which should be approximately on the same level as the current HD 5800 series. However this is a marketing strategy because the x800 series is always very popular, AMD could have taken the same decision when they released the HD 5700 series, which is on the same level as the previous HD 4800 series. The high-end offering will be represented by the Cayman Pro / XT and the Antilles (dual-Cayman) graphic cards.
