Unta. But anything could happen. Like, simbako, health problems which could lead to a loss of the medical certificate (and therefore your license). Or the lack of funds for training. Getting a Commercial Pilot License with Instrument Rating, and getting enough hours where airlines will entertain hiring you will take years and millions of pesos. At least naay backup kung naay problema. Some people I know also worked in other jobs while waiting for their big break with the airlines.

A BS degree is not an advantage. Any 4-year college course is acceptable. What is not acceptable is too many failures or dropped subjects. Remember they are gauging your capacity for studying and hard work when reviewing your transcript. Someone I know had all the credentials--licenses and rating earned in the USA, tons of flying hours in complex aircraft, maayo pa magininglish--but PAL turned him down because he failed and dropped too many subjects in college (sa huli ang pagsisisi).

mao lagi daw sir. I read it from a previous post here nga naa cyay friend nga pilot of Cebu Pacific. They don't accept someone who has a failing grade daw. Pero try lang gud ghapon sir, at least i tried to go for what i want. In the end, win-win man ghapon ko. I wanted to become a marine biologist, close to graduating nako this march. But i wanted to be a pilot more than being a marine biologist, so moh give lang ug shot gud. I know it will cost me a lot. Mangita ra nya ko ug sponsors nako. Basta ang ako lang, ni try ko para di ko magmahay puhon. So far pud sir, no failing grade man pud ko, arang2 naman pud mga grado. ^_^. mau lang tah ug this sem and next sem, di mahagbong..

Then go for it. I know a lot of pilots who love the underwater world as much as the heavens, so you'll fit right in.

i am sorry to say that i don't know any scholarships offered to pilot candidates. but in the Philippine Air Force Flying School in Lipa Batangas... it is free. and i can guarantee that it is a very competent flying school since most of our commercial pilots now are ex-military pilots. sad to say the Flying school recruitment nowadays is very scarce especially to external applicants. that's all i can share for you.

It seems the PAF Flying School in Lipa, Batangas is only admitting PMA graduates.
