For me, Magento is friendly to online sellers but not friendly to programmers. hehe! They're so many files and lots of database tables. In short bug-at jud siya. hehe!

Mmmmm paid CMS is a different thing so I would recommend Drupal since its FREE and all FREE! it up to you how would you able to customized it.

Magento is good for big stores, there are alternatives like Opencart and Virtuemart for Joomla

I find Opencart more easy to customize and simple to create custom extensions than Magento. Opencart is like a rip off or a lite version of Magento but easy to customize. Magento is powerful and has a lot of features and good for big online stores.
