Not percentage, flat fee. But you know bro, they are called ultra-discount brokers because the traditional brokers are percentage based or have tiered rates. A flat fee of let's say $7 is advantageous in the long run. Barato na. Just do your math before you do a single trade. By the way, if makuyawan ka sa US brokers with no office here, actually, to put things in perspective bro one US broker can eat up all the Philippine brokers combined in terms of volume of daily transactions, and have lots of room to spare. Dagko ni sila, make no mistake about this. The US is the single biggest capital market in the whole world baya. Through them you can trade the NYSE, American Exchange, Nasdaq, etc. Not just equities pa jud, you can trade ETFs with them, Exchange Traded Funds (great product by the way, and in the US at least, these are better than mutual funds if you are into indexing) I can go on and on, hehe.

So if you ask why they don't have a local office? Why would they even bother? Also, the reason these new ultra-discount brokers are successful is exactly because they've managed to control their costs by way of limiting operations to mostly online. Less offices to maintain mean less overhead. Sorry for the OT.

    Good luck to all today.

Today's biggest gainer in my portfolio is URC. It just jumped 6+%. I smell something afoot. Or finally, the market is catching up on the the fundamentals of this solid stock. Problem lang is volume, but it's just the opening hour, so I hope this develops into a clear accelerating trend.

For my case bro.. End of day lang ko nagamonitor sa mga stocks.. Then diversified buying ko ana.. You don't need to monitor your stocks the whole market period.. Except lang siguro if you are into day trading..
