hala gi balita mana sauna ..
Things that i remember nga gisulti regarding checkpoint are:
    1. Dapat naa jud signage nga dako, kana bitaw maklaro nimo sa layo nga checkpoint na so dili ka maka kalit ug hunong.
    2. Dapat sad hayag ang place diin naa ang checkpoint .

Basta other than that puede ra kuno nimo dili hunungan (ang prob sad kai basin gukdon ka, hehe).
Naa man gud incidence sa manila nahitabo nga ang driver nagtoo nga checkpoint so nihunong sila.
Paghunong nila ngitngit ang place, no signboard nga checkpoint to siya then nag type b ra kuno ang mga police, then 2 ra kabuok ang police. Holdap na diay to.. waheheheh...

DOJ issues opinion on public's rights at checkpoints
By Edu Punay (The Philippine Star) Updated March 26, 2011 12:00 AM Comments (0)

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Justice (DOJ) issued yesterday an opinion on the basic rights of the public at police and military checkpoints.

In its very first public advisory, the DOJ released the 10-point guidelines on how motorists should deal with authorities at checkpoints to protect their rights against unreasonable searches and seizures under Article III Section 2 of the Constitution.

The department said the public should observe checkpoints and report if they are “well-lighted, properly identified and manned by uniformed personnel.”

“Upon approach, slow down, dim headlights and turn on cabin lights. Never step out of the vehicle,” it stated.

The DOJ reminded motorists to lock all doors of their vehicles during inspection since “only visual search is allowed” and never to submit to physical or body search.

It stressed that drivers are not even required to open glove compartment, trunk or bags for inspection at checkpoints.

When asked ordinary or routine questions by military or police personnel, the public is advised to “be courteous but firm in answering, assert your rights, have presence of mind and do not panic.”

“Keep your driver’s license and car registration handy and within reach,” it added.

The DOJ also said motorists should be ready to use their mobile phones at anytime, advising them to speed dial emergency numbers.

Lastly, it urged the public to “report violations immediately.”

Secretary Leila de Lima, a former chair of Commission on Human Rights, signed the advisory.

“We came out with this initiative to protect the public from abuses committed by law enforcers and to weed out illegal checkpoints,” she explained.
