i'm on a budget and need some help for an upgrade..my purpose is for general multitasking(video editing/conversion),browsing,downloading.. and a few new games...And here's my choices....AMD AthlonII x3 440 or PhenomII 550....
i'll be running them with a 785 AMD chipset and ddr3 mems...core unlocking is just a bonus since its just like rolling a dice.(hit or miss)..does having an extra L3 cache prove more advantage than having an extra core?

more cores with higher cache the better!
better architecture with more cores and higher cache - THE BEST!

Phenom II X4 925 @ 6.7k would be the best choice bai. kay video rendering man diay purpose nimo. ang Athlon II X3 og Phenom II X2 pareha2x rana sila. maypa dritso ka sa Quad-Core with 2MB L2 Cache and 6MB L3 Cache
btw i have for sale Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 with 6MB L2 Cache basin interested ka?

some says that games today doesn't even utilizes the L3 cache yet...they focus on extra cores to do the job...is that true?

Okey..Thank you guys...I think I'm going to settle for the Athlon II X3 for the moment..and the few hundreds that was spared will probably be added on the Videocard at least an hd4770 is decent enough for this build...I'll go break my piggy bank...^_^
I heard some guys on TPC were lucky enough to unlock their Athlon II X3 it's 4th core..imma give it a try..At least i can have a guarranteed triple core for this decision...
