The church can be audited by a private sector company like SGV in coordination with NGO's and other watchdog agencies.

Some (not all) Churches are using the Separation between Church and state as an excuse to hide their financial activities...


All we are asking for is transparency so everyone will know what really goes on behind the scenes sa church.

Malay mo, if people realize the civic works the church is doing, mas mu saka ang collection... rather than people just trusting that their money will help the poor and needy.

There is auditing in the catholic church bro. And this is precisely to avoid the sins of the past and scandals involving money. This is the function of every Parish Financial Council and, I think Diocesan Council sad ... But, there are also internal and external auditors.

I think the generalization here bro is wrong ... I know of a parish who for almost three years now, do not pass the basket for second collections, even if there are projects to be done. I ask the priest why is that, he said that the church belongs to the people. When parishioners see the need of the church they give, even without being asked. I think there is truth in it as the parish really functions well in its outreach programs: free clinic and medicines, free elementary school for the children of squatters, etc .. If the auditing is merely within the church then it merely prevents corruption sa lower ranking church officials but with regards to checking the disbursements sa higher level officials... there's still no checks in place.
