^^ nice update on the thread brad..the release of 6000 series cards is gonna be more exciting to all of the enthusiasts as days go by..weeeeeee....^_^..
i've read that most probably ang ma release this october are ang hd6770 and hd6750...pang compete sa gtx460 considering wla kau'y competition ang gtx460 in the 200-250usd range. and by earlier 2011 manggawas na guro ang hd6800 series
Small update on the rumors...
When is the HD6000 series launching? There have been rumors of October 12th flying around, but that is not the launch date. On October 12th, there is an event related to the 6000 series, but there won't be cards on sale until October 25 +/- a day or two depending on schedules.
What is going to launch then? The one area where AMD has a hole in their lineup is the $175-250 range, and that would be filled by the hypothetical 6700 line. In a stunning bit of coincidence, that is exactly what will launch first, shortly followed by the 6800 and 6900 line. In early 2011, the lower end parts will backfill the lineup, and that will be it. Until 28nm. Then things get really interesting.
Back to the near future, the launch of the 6000 line will basically bury Nvidia's chances in the market. The green team already has a higher cost structure than the current AMD 5000 line, and has to resort to price drops and kickbacks to achieve their current tepid sales. AMD in the mean time is holding prices steady on the top end, but the 57xx line is starting to show a little price softness.
It is almost as if AMD is making room in their lineup for a new chip to slot in and step on Nvidia's hopes and dreams. In fact, that is exactly what AMD is doing, crushing Nvidia's margins while still making money, and clearing out their inventory at the same time.
AMD is currently in the driver's seat with the HD5000 line, and will roll out the replacement HD6000 line within two weeks of Nvidia completing their 400 series. AMD can drop prices on the older parts to fill in holes in the 6000 line until it is completed. During that time, Nvidia has no response.
AMD handily trounced Nvidia with their HD5000 line to win the first match of the DX11 tournament. With the HD6000 series, they will win match two by even greater margins, both financial and performance. Until the TSMC 28nm process is ready, Nvidia has no chance, but from the information already trickling out, don't expect things to get any less abusive at that node
AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series ''Barts'' Specs Sheet Surfaces | techPowerUp
Here is the slide we've been waiting for, the specs sheet of AMD's next-generation RadeonHD 6700 series GPUs, based on a new, radically redesigned core, codenamed "Barts". The XT variant denotes Radeon HD 6770, and Pro denotes HD 6750. AMD claims that the HD 6700 series will pack "Twice the Horsepower", over previous generation HD 5700 series. Compared to the "Juniper" die that went into making the Radeon HD 5700 series, Barts features twice the memory bandwidth thanks to its 256-bit wide high-speed memory interface, key components such as the SIMD arrays split into two blocks (like on Cypress), and we're now getting to learn that it uses a more efficient 4-D stream processor design. There are 1280 stream processors
available to the HD 6770 (Barts XT), and 1120 stream processors to the HD 6750 (Barts Pro). Both SKUs use the full 256-bit memory bus width.
The most interesting specification here is the shader compute power. Barts XT churns out 2.3 TFLOP/s with 1280 stream processors, GPU clocked at 900 MHz, while the Radeon HD 5870 manages 2.72 TFLOP/s with 1600 stream processors, 850 MHz. So indeed the redesigned SIMD core is working its magic. Z/Stencil performance also shot up more than 100% over the Radeon HD 5700 series. Both the HD 6770 and HD 6750 will be equipped with 5 GT/s memory chips, at least on the reference-design cards, which are technically capable of running at 1250 MHz (5 GHz effective), though are clocked at 1050 MHz (4.20 GHz effective) on HD 6770, and 1000 MHz (4 GHz effective) on HD 6750. Although these design changes will inevitably result in a larger die compared to Juniper, it could still be smaller than Cypress, and hence, more energy-efficient.
This is card is said to compete with nvidia's GTX 460. But looking at the spec sheet it seems to be more powerful than the HD5850. GTX 460's price point combined with an HD5850's performance, October is an exciting month for us all.
AMD Radeon 6850 and 6870 are go to launch on October 18! AMD Radeon 6850 and 6870 are go to launch on October 18! :: TweakTown USA Edition
Alright, if this is true and is not a rumor, then bring your popcornsDisclaimer: right now, everything is "rumor" - until proven a fact, please keep this in mind.
For what has seemed like a very long time - AMD has teased us with no refresh of their Evergreen (5xxx series), then the name change from ATI to AMD and now finally, some concrete release dates for you to check on your calender.
October 18, 2010.
This is the day AMD will unveil the new, now AMD branded, Radeon 6850 and 6870 cards. The 5k series was a great card for performance per watt, which has been AMD's strategy with the last generation of GPU. This generation kicks it up a few notches...
The 6870 will compete with the current 5850.
To compare: a 5850 has 1440 stream processors, 725MHz core, and uses 151W of power. The 6870 will beat the current 5850, while only using 960 stream processors, an increased 850MHz core and uses >150W power. While it uses more power, it has cut down 30% of it's stream processors and can still beat a 5850... it will be interesting to see what a full 1400+ stream processing GPU from AMD can do.
AMD are using the 6870 to replace the 5770 - this is where it gets confusing. AMD are changing naming schemes... the 6870 will replace the "5770-esque" part of the market, while the new 69xx series will replace the current 58xx market-segment.
From what I've seen - it looks like AMD have shoved an NVIDIA GTX460 into a dog's face, and made them chase it - the hunt is on, AMD want that GTX460 segment and if they can pull off 5870 performance for just over 150W and $200 - they'll have it, in droves.
I'm kind of a skeptic because of the 45nm architecture. Also the new naming scheme is pretty clumsy.

Just read somewhere that it's delayed for a month or two. From what i understand, ATI doesn't want to release it at the same month Nvidia is releasing their lower to mid end cards on november.
