I don't think kasabot ka what it is to be a public figure. The whole country has its eyes on you and is mindful of every word you say.

If the hotdog eating was an isolated incident then I would say that it is just for show ... Also, his actions not only send signals to the Philippines... they also serve to send a statement to the U.S. and the rest of the world that:

    1. Our leaders no longer eat in lavish restaurants while the rest of the country is starving.
    2. Our president is someone that they can relate to and do business with (what is more American and New York... than eating Hotdogs in the street for lunch)

No one is denying that this is sending a message... you can call it a political one... but things like this need to be done to let the world know that our country is Open for business and We mean business also when it comes to cracking down on corruption and achieving fiscal responsibility.

a news i heard that the Palace is spending 1M$ in hiring a PR firm. imagine ang budget nila ay 25M pesos for the whole trip sunod mas dako ang budget sa publicity stunt ani.
Any link to shed light on this unsubstantiated claim?

Puro nalang ta... I heard this... ani? cmon.. You know the drill.

Nice conspiracy theory you got there... any facts that prove your point?

If it was a cover up then im pretty sure by now the IIRC report submitted to HongKong/China would have gotten some flak already...

From what I know, ang reklamo sa China is they failed to include what happened to that Hong Kong national who got hit on the head and is in a Coma...

Better if we stick to facts rather than spew conspiracy theories and let our imagination run wild..

Default Noy after ‘pogi points’ than people’s welfare — solon

The Daily Tribune <<< Without Fear or Favor >>>
A member of the House of Representatives yesterday accused Aquino administration of being more “pogi points” conscious, spending millions of dollars of people’s money rather than attending to the needs and welfare of the Filipino people.
In a text message, Davao City Rep. Karlo Nograles dared President Benigno Aquino to make full disclosure of the contract he entered into with a US-based public relations (PR) firm, the services of which he hired to gain media exposure on his first foreign trip.
“In the interest of transparency and accountability, the President should make a full disclosure on the details of the contract that was entered into with a US-based PR firm,” Nograles said.
The other day, the Palace admitted it hired the services of a US PR firm to ensure Aquino gets media exposure during his week-long working visit to the United States.
“When a foreign government or a government goes to a foreign country, they usually engage the services of different firms in order to help them get exposure to the US media,” Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Secretary Ricky Carandang said, adding it was merely a “standard operating procedure” for visiting government leaders.
But Elena Bautista-Horn, spokesman for former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, though admitting they had also hired a PR firm during Arroyo’s term, stressed, “they only do it to assist and advise them on important and critical messages of national/international importance and not to gain media mileage and placements.”

In his less than three months in office, Aquino had been criticized for focusing more on garnering “pogi points,” starting with his anti-wang-wang campaign, anti-billboard announcements for government-sponsored projects and lately with his much publicized plan to dine in a Jollibee branch in US which was shot down by US Secret Service, rather than engaging in concrete poverty-alleviating programs for the people.
Aquino had been heavily criticized for slashing in bulk, budgets for social services and the judiciary while increasing by two-folds the budget of the Department Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) which is under the helm of Secretary Dinkee Soliman, a member of the so-called Haytt 10 along with Budget Secretary Butch Abad.
“It is quite ironic that the present administration is very frugal in the budget for scholarships, infrastructure, skills, assistance to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), budget for the judiciary, credit facilities to CARP beneficiaries, budget for the Commission on Human Rights, capital outlay for state universities and government hospitals and other important items, but they are okay with spending millions of dollars for PR,” Nograles lamented.
“He (Aquino) should disclose the services delivered by this PR firm and what was achieved out of its work.”
gi budget gyud ning media exposure, pila toh 1M$ dollar? kung sa pinas pa ni... libre lang kay sa ABIAS CBN man remember yung 10mins+ infomercial run ng LP hehe

In fairness, this is the exchange I'm looking forward to read. Critic on issues, actions and no name-calling

Personally, Noynoy has nothing to show yet - those little things he did can be argued as pogi points, yes - but once he delivered on bigger promises, then that's the time he could shut up some of the haters. I'm willing to give the administration a chance, although I'm not stupid also to just accept whatever explanation they give.

That 1.3b surplus for August is something good, albeit a small thing. If they could keep it up, MAYBE we can control the deficit, and actually pay off debts - but that's talking to soon.
