yes..reformatting will be the last option.

prune yur PC of spywares/viruses first, then disable all unnecessary start-up progs thru MSCONFIG..and finally DEFRAGMENT your disk..this wud bring back yur PC in tip top condition without the hassle of reinstallation

"By time Windows registry gathers a lot of invalid entries that cause system complications and slow down your computer significantly" -http://www.abexo.com/
kung walay na change na applications.. walay na corrupt. ang makapahinay nalang ana kay ang hard disk kay in time ma bun-og mana.

ok. seems like you have the time. try to defragment your registry using this -> http://www.snapfiles.com/get/freeregdefrag.html
if you can get a better registry cleaner, the better. the one above is a freeware.

btw, i'm using the streamlined WinXP SP2 OS. installed the bluetooth device i bought @ CDR-King worth 450 pesos. no problem whatsoever.
i still believe that the only issue between SP2 and Bluetooth is the bluetooth driver.

if you do a little research about low-level formatting, you'll find out that the term low-level formatting these days is a misused term.
modern drives don't need low-level formatting. in fact, they can't be low-level formatted outside the factory due to their precision and complexity.

When most users today talk about "low-level formatting" a drive, what they are really talking about is doing a zero-fill.

Some HDD manufacturers still use the term low-level format and even provide utilties/programs. the truth is, those utilities only perform a zero-fill process to make the HDD's status as that when you purchased it.

here's one info link regarding samsung : http://www.samsung.com/Products/Hard...0000000036.htm

if you want a utility, you can use Maxtor's powermax. just google for it.
if you want to securely wipe your disk, you can use this freeware -> http://dban.sourceforge.net
