it would really be an honour to join u guys, but i think im gonna have to pass. the reason is di ko maka full time. 2nd, medyo kulang pa akong knowledge sa mga rotties para mo handle ko ana nga type nga dog.. thats y i stumbled upon an article about rotties being used for herding kay gacge pa man kog research kay nag plan ko buy large breed. ang akong option is a standard apbt, or a rottie. then, beginner pa gyd kaau ko, as in NOOB! pa gyd kaau ko anang dog training. heheh!
for schutzhund, im currently starting sa akong rescued aspin. in which grabeh kaau iyang play drive.. so i started out with basic obedience and bite training. ^^ funny, my aspin really does have a good grip.. mura siya apbt nga nag springpole. HEHE! then, weight pull pud panagsa to build up his muscles. but di gyd ko makapasalig nga buhian siya offleash since stubborn gyd kaau siya.. 1 yr na man gud siya pag rescue nako. but i never lost hope, bisan 3x na ko gpaak niya atong bago2x pa siya nako. heheh! medyo dugay2 gyd pud ko naka gain sa alpha nga status..but it really did pay off. ^^

btw, is CRV affiliated pud sa k9care? nag exchange pud mo ideas sa ilaha sir? mo try lang nya ko visit did2 sa paseo if ever naa ko vacant time coz medyo busy gyd pud karon panahona man.. but paningkamotan lang pud nako since interested gyd kaau ko motanaw sa inyo training.

hi lyledo,thats a gud thing that u research first on the breed of ur choice rather than plunging unprepared to own any dog,mao ni dapat buhaton jud sa mga would be owners of dogs/pups.nywy,yes actually the primary working job of a rott-to which they owe much of their physical form (& function at the same time)-is cattle droving.and,rottweilers are one of the few breeds allowed to compete in herding trials with which it usually competes against other herding & working breeds like the border collie,australian cattle dog,aussies & the likes.
later on,they utilize their capabilities in guard work & dog sports at the same time.they also are capable of therapy work like my girl,chloe

the CRV is not affiliated with K9 care but we're friends & we exchange ideas bout dogs in general & at the same time we share the same training ground hehe,which is the paseo arcenas field feel free to join as sometime in ur free schedule,with or without ur dog...ur very welcome

yes rotts before wer used as a butchers dog which is for guarding and herding. low na jud ang hunting kai wa namai mo hunt..hehe nag try mi og train sa amoa rott for shutzhund some of the members espec the presidents dog andro von swarzen englen kai trained na kaayo bh and biting idk wat more and kang fids si chloe but ad2 pami stage 2 sa shutzhund which is tracking... some members mo participate during sa amoa trainings which is kada saturday sa paseo banawa and some dont like me kai wa man akoa iro diri cebu... soo some rotts are trained and some are not...

@lyledu pde ka mo join namo eventhough dili rott imoha dog ad2 lng kada saturday sa paseo banawa afternoon.. naa rami ngad2.. but this upcoming saturday wla pa amoa master trainor si master fids..

master trainor ka dha hahaha...pagsure dha dro musta imo rott?

ikaw lng choose wat u want wat suits u best if apbt ka or rottweiler, apbt's wer bred to fight while rotts wer bred to protect... although apbt's now are getting a good dog image thanks to the efforts of the pitbull lovers they are now a loving pet rather than a fighting pet..

Sa pagkakaron, im more interested of owning an APBT compared sa rottie coz mas bati man gud ang image sa pitbulls.. And, mas interesado ko magpakita sa uban tao nga "it is not the breed, but the deed" lang.. it depends on how the owner trained the animal. di bah?^^
but di gyd nato kapugngan mga sirs, naa lang gyd ghapon mga heartless people nagpabugno sa ilang mga pitbulls.. tsk tsk tsk...

Hehehe! sa akong nahibaw-an sir, mas maau man nang mag research gyd ta daan para kng naa na nato ang puppy, di ta mapanic kng unsa atong buhaton.. hehe! lisud nang mag take tag exam bah, nya diha na pud ta mag tuon. di bah? ^^
fascinated lang gyd kaau ko sa rottie kay lahe ra gyd kaau ang euro standard(undocked tail) kay mas balanced siya.. i can really tell sa way molakaw ang dog. lahe ra gyd kaau.. mas stable siya sa ground kng naay tail. ^^
as of now sir fids, naa moy competition gi apilan para sa inyong mga rotties? i would really love to watch and cheer for team cebu kng naa man gani. ^^

Paningkamotan lang nako makaad2 sa paseo, total duol ra man pud kaau among house.. naa ra man pud ko sa happy valley nag puyo. hehehe!

@lyledu: ingana jud dapat tanang naa'y plan mu acquire ug dog (or any pet for dat matter).para benefit ang 2-owner & pet & at the same tym it will save a lot of would be owners of 'heartaches' & disappiontments.in case,u wanted to learn more,visit pawpals next week kay naa mi articles dg2 sa rotts,CRV,etc.u can browse on them kay it will help u a lot sa imong pagstudy sa breed.
yes,'tailed' rotts are beginning to surface more nowadays which for me is a lot of plus,specially if ur into dog sports...its a great advantage not to mention that it 'softens' the look of the rottie tough guy
