and this one should be the i7-2600S @ 2.8 GHZ with integrated graphics @ 850 MHZ

but I think this will not appeal to you bec intel has crippled the overclocking capability.

Intel wanted to cut cost and built the clock generator on the chipset itself rather than relying on a separate chip on the motherboard. This would translate that all the busses now are tied to it and if you raise BCLK you'll also increase the speed of all other busses in the system, such as USB, SATA, PCI Express, DMI etc which will really complicate things

if you really want to unlock OC potential of these chips intel wants you to purchase the K version which has the unlock multiplier but then again overclocking with multiplier really takes out the fun
i've posted some first information about sandy bridge but people don't seem interested - got buried.

Nel, yup looks like those are the equivalent procs. The ones with the "K" suffix would be the ones to get but i'm sure they will be considerably more. $US 300+ ??

Poldo, Been following a few sandybridge threads on other forums actually and i'm aware of the supposed oc limitations, and all the pros and cons. What i wanted to know is what processor to pair with the SB 1155 platform that is bang-for-buck (sweetspot) like the 920 and 750 was for their previous platforms.

Looks like the SB 1155 platforms still falls between the 1156 and 1366 as far as performance goes except for the video integration. Now the question is, whether it is worth the upgrade now from the 1156 to SB and or 1366 OR just wait till the 2011 (westmere EX, 28nm, 22nm, etc) arrives.

For people who run i7 1366 X58 systems - do you think it is an upgrade??

likay OT: i hope the giga boards provide more than 6 sata ports. 8-10 would be nice
