I agree sa D7000 sir, dako gyud noon ug dprensya pero sa katong D3100 versus D3000 wla kaayoy apason para nako ha hehehe

EXPEED 2 alone is a big deal, means better image quality and video than what D90 or (slightly better due to MP bump than what) D3100 offers, perhaps even better than the D300s (EXPEED, or EXPEED I if anyone prefers), sadly it only has true HD on 720p, other video resolutions will be captured on 24fps (Not that a lot of eye can discern the difference anyway). So, IQ and video on this baby is expected to be a lot better. This definitely has the potential to take a few HD Video DSLR shooter market out from Canon users who are in serious need of better low light performance.

D300s has more AF points but some say it's not that useful at all for a handful of paid/professional use that they do. So, the 39 AF points on D7000 should suffice for the "advance amateur" or the "serious newbie."

From news sources online, it sounds like the D90 won't be going anywhere or won't be phased-out for now. Nikon definitely carved out a place for it. But if anyone is saving for a brand new D90, it really wouldn't hurt to save up more to get the D7000, just be sure to wait a month or two after the product is actually released into the market to double check performance reviews posted by eager beavers.

hehe ni-react lang ko sir kay murag sa previous statement kay na-compare ang upgrade to D3100 to an upgrade to D7000.

If I were doing landscape photography like you (nice photos and work on contributing to the drupal community), I might stick w/ the D3000 but since I want the option to shoot decent video I would definitely benefit from the MP bump and the EXPEED 2 on D3100.

What I'm saying is the upgrade from pre 2009 DSLR to D3100 would be worth it for any noob like me but if were saving for a D90, better jump right to D7000 and really get a taste at how expensive getting photography as a hobby and what mid-range DSLR really has to offer in terms of control and functionality.

Anyway, just adding additional info about the D7000 for everyone else who hasn't read online details/previews.

The D7000 shoots almost the same video resolutions as the D3100, major differences lies with data captured (14bit vs. 12bit, D7000 and D3100 respectively), mic jack availability on D7000, ISO (for low light, D7000 should easily trump D3100), AF points and the cross-type sensors available in the system. D7000 has 39 AF points/9 cross-type sensor and D3100 has 11 AF points/1 cross-type sensor. For an explanation on the difference here's a link to an article about sensor's auto-focus: Understanding Camera Autofocus

The only thing I want on D7000 that I did not see is the PC sync port.

For now everything about D7000 looks good on paper or the technical specs are great but we will have to wait for production reviews by October when it's released.
