one of the builders of sm is a friend.. ang base foundation ana ilang gihimo is like sa barko.. kay everytime mo dig cla tubig mogawas.. mao to dugay ayo natukod ang sm diri.. japanese archi.. nag design nga mura cyag barko og base.. and mo lahos na didto sa radisson coz it was pre planned na... the reason wa xa ni open after initially nahuman is.. wa mosugot ang sm sa plans sa sheraton.. in short wa sila nagkasabot and they already had a contract... now on sm's part.. its either mo open sila nga di sila uyon sa terms... or pasagdan nila until mahuman ang contract... daghan man silag mooolahh they chose the latter.. mao na karon nikuha na silag bag-o nga partner which is radisson... totally not true about the bldgs foundation.

Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu set to open in 2 weeks

A NEW hotel with 400 rooms is expected to formally open its doors in two weeks.

The Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu, which is located beside SM City Cebu, is scheduled to formally open on Sept. 27.

The hotel held its first event last Wednesday for the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s thanksgiving party after the celebration of Cebu Business Month.

Grant Gaskin, general manager of the Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu, told guests that the Radisson Blu has 400 rooms, 25 executive suites, 50 business class rooms, a club lounge, two ballrooms that can be connected for one big event and 15 function rooms named after Spanish galleons.

The hotel has free high-speed and wireless Internet access in all its guestrooms and public areas, as well as computers for use at the business center.

The hotel also has an 800 square-meter free-form pool and a spa.

An innovation for them is the “one-touch service” button in all the guest rooms, which will enable the guest to request for anything with just one button and not have to dial different numbers for the service required.

Coffee and tea in disposable cups and energy bars and fruits will be available for guests who are in a hurry to leave but want a quick bite to eat.

Gaskin admitted that some guests would be enticed to dine at the establishments at the SM City Cebu beside the hotel, noting its proximity to the hotel.

Still, he assured guests will be treated to “a different dining experience” at the Radisson Blu, with their buffet-style restaurant with different stations.

“We are not a leisure hotel. We are a corporate conference hotel,” he explained.

Members of the business community and some reporters were taken on a tour of some of the hotel’s facilities last week.

The Radisson Blu is an upscale brand of the Carlson Hotels based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA and the Cebu branch is the hotel brand’s first in Asia.

It is run in partnership with SM Hotels and Conventions.

This should have been in the news long ago. But because of the silence on the part of SM, the people speculated as to what happen. NOW WE KNOW!! thanks....

Cool...Yeah Sherraton ni sauna. I don't really know the full details on why this hotel constructions was stopped. Most common thing that I have heard was that this hotel construction was stopped due to it not being able to pass construction standards....Mu collapse daw as some people mentioned in previous posts.

Another thing that I have heard though, was from persons in the higher govt sectors, who mentioned that this hotel was built under pseudo investors, fronting for some prominent person in the govt. Naundang ang funding because na walay klaro ang sabot due to some bad things happening to the true investor. Gipalabas na lang daw na daot ang foundation.

Or it could also be both, na wa nay kwarta ang main investor para pa fix sa construction flaw due to his kaso2x....
