hmm.. IMHO lang bro ha, murag mas dako man ug value ang tamron 17-50 f2.8 kaysa 18-105mm vr. ang 18-105mm vr costs around 8k-9k while ang tamron 17-50 I GUESS is around 15k-17k. naa koy kaila naka palit 15k.

actually, it's not the IF(internal focusing) that affects focusing but the motor itself. since it is not used with special motor(USD - ultra sonic drive motor from tamron), the focusing is not very fast on low light conditions.
Internal focusing (IF) provides numerous practical benefits to photographers including a non-rotating front filter ring that facilitates the positioning of polarizing and graduated filters, and more predictable handling because the lens length does not change during focusing. Even more important, Tamron’s Internal Focusing (IF) system provides a much closer minimum focusing distance (MFD) throughout its entire focusing range. In addition, IF improves optical performance by minimizing illumination loss at the corners of the image field, and helps to suppress other aberrations that become more troublesome at different focusing positions - from Tamron's
slow focusing on standard motored lenses(not special motored) are also quite over-hyped. it is not really slow all the time but only sub-par on low light conditions. there is really only little difference on body driven motor or lens built-in standard motor on focusing speed on same lenses(as for in Nikon's mount). if you want real very fast focusing, get the Ultra Sonic Drive (USD) rotor version from Tamron's; just like the SWM of Nikon's and HSM of Sigma's .
