^^ my accusations re interpreters sounds absurd but since nobody in Istorya is as fluent in Spanish as "Marimar" and since the transcript of the "interview portion" of the Miss Universe pageant has not yet been published, we won't know exactly what Miss Puerto Rico answered as well as how the interpreter interpreted her response.

based on your comments, you're not even sure which is which by reading your reply stating "the interpreters interpret the answers exactly as it is or the best they can".

hmmm.....kalma lang sir......i did not say that someone here in istorya is so fluent in spanish. i based my comments on just the pageant itself not based on how well the people in istorya speak spanish since it's the miss universe we're talking about. so i guess we are talking about 2 different things... it's like your questioning the credibility of the interpreters in the pageant.......yep the interpreters interpret it the best they can, not exactly word by word but the thoughts exactly is what i mean when i said it interprets exactly........like i said 2 of the judges speak spanish well and know exactly the answer word by word. there's no need to release the transcript of the Q & A portion, it's on live tv, broadcast all over the world.......

like i said 2 of the judges speak spanish well and know exactly the answer word by word.nobody knows that 'coz neither you and I don't speak that language as far as "word for word" interpretation is concerned except for those people who speak Spanish and at the same time watched the pageant's Q & A portion. like I said, there are a lot of variations in every language, Spanish included. there's just no guarantee that what the interpretation of the top interpreters in a time sensitive scenario like pageants would be close to what the contestant expressed. same reason why I said earlier that "wala ta kabalo kung gipalami an tog maayo sa nag interpret di ba?". one word can make a whole lot of difference.

whether we like it or not, transcripts of similar events are released on the internet either by the pageant organizers themselves or some fan who'd cry foul or something. yes, I agree, it was on live TV broadcasted simultaneously around the world but here's a simple question: "Did you understand what Miss Japan, Miss Paraguay and Miss Puerto Rico answered before the interpreter did their job?" they may sound spontaneous to people who don't understand what their talking about but what if they stuttered? what if there were "fillers" in between words? the interpreter can't duplicate those for sure. but for all of us who don't understand what they said, their answers without the interpreters might sound like music to our ears.

a lot of people including me is curious on what they "actually" replied. how interpreters who have time on their hands would translate them into print and discuss what words should be used instead of what the "live" interpreter did. simple as that.

lindsay, would you then agree that this is a fair statement: "wala ta kabalo kung gipalami an tog maayo sa nag interpret di ba?", 9 of the 11 judges based their decisions on what the interpreter's "best"/"closest" interpretation of Miss Puerto Rico's answer. 'coz the truth is, the judges, 9 of them relied solely on the interpreters.
