Before ko mo ingon palpak pd ang coverage or uban pa as ive said none and none of this this will happen if at 1st ni follow cla sa gunman's demand.so simple ra nga strategy..it take to long and too late..If you read on his demand dli kaayo na bug-at, no money or escape vehicle was asked..common sense lng...i totally blamed this on the police who commands this operation, ka2ng uban police did2 na apil r2 sa kapalpak sa commander a2...Media has also it's part but it was just a domino effect that they covered that time..

Aquino's decision on not to "censor the media" shows how imbecile he is. Also to the media (mainly ABS-CBN and GMA), so greedy for the LIVE COVERAGE. I wonder if they missed reading the part about KBP Policy on Crime and Crisis Situations.

Article 6. CRIME AND CRISIS SITUATIONS

Sec. 1. The coverage of crimes in progress or crisis situations such as hostage-taking or kidnapping shall not put lives in greater danger than what is already inherent in the situation. Such coverage should be restrained and care should be taken so as not to hinder or obstruct efforts of authorities to
    resolve the situation.

Sec. 2. A coverage should avoid inflicting undue shock and pain to families and loved ones of victims of crimes, crisis situations, disasters, accidents, and other tragedies.

Sec. 3. The identity of victims of crimes or crisis situations in progress shall not be announced until the situation has been resolved or their names have been released by the authorities. The names of fatalities should be aired only when their next of kin have been notified or their names released, by the authorities.

Sec. 4. The coverage of crime or crisis situations shall not provide vital information or offer comfort or support to the perpetrators.

Sec. 5. Stations are encouraged to adopt standard operating procedures (SOP’s) consistent with this
Code to govern the conduct of their news personnel during the coverage of crime and crisis situations.

Sec. 6. Persons who are taken into custody by authorities as victims or for allegedly committing private crimes (such as indecency or lasciviousness), shall not be identified, directly or indirectly -- unless a formal complaint has already been filed against them. They shall not be subjected to undue shame and humiliation, such as showing them in indecent or vulgar acts and poses.

Cop rejects calls for resignation over hostage crisis

Despite mounting calls for their ouster, a Philippine police official refused to quit his post in the wake of a deadly hostage crisis in Manila last Monday.
Metro Manila police chief Director Leocadio Santiago Jr. said they cannot just give in to "emotions" but he said they will abide by the findings of an investigation on the incident.
"Hindi ako magre-resign at di ko sina-suggest na mag-resign ang mga tauhan at liderato ng police. Paiimbestiga kaming lahat, subject kami sa investigation at sabihin ng nag-iimbestiga saan ang mali at doon ibase ang kanilang investigation (I will not resign and I will not suggest my subordinates or my superiors to quit. We have subjected ourselves to an investigation and we will abide by what the results would show)," Santiago said in an interview on dzXL radio.
Many sectors had called for the ouster of police officials led by Philippine National Police chief Director General Jesus Verzosa in the wake of Monday's incident.
Several visitors to President Benigno Simeon Aquino III's Facebook page had insisted that "heads should roll," including those of police officials.
They particularly called for the ouster of Verzosa, Manila police head Chief Superintendent Rodolfo Magtibay, and Santiago.
"Sana di dumating ang punto na ang gumawa ng serbisyo at naglatag ng kanilang buhay at kinabukasan para tulungan ang ibang tao ay ipagsaalang-alang sa obserbasyon at haka-haka ng emosyon (I hope the issue would not come to the point that the policemen who serve and risk their lives would be subjected to undue pressure because of opinions and emotions)," Santiago said.
He also chided those seeking their resignation for their "tendency to self-flagellate" and to criticize others.
Besides, he said the police's decision to deal with hostage taker dismissed Senior Inspector Rodolfo Mendoza had been "done according to the book" until a "hasty assault" was conducted.
"Everything was done according to the book until the hasty assault was conducted, which to the best of the police force tried to execute to save the lives of the hostages," he said.
He said he is no longer in a position to say if there were defects in the decision-making process, saying it is now the subject of post-investigation and post-analysis.
The hostage crisis in Manila met a bloody end Monday night, after a SWAT team assaulted a tourist bus full of mostly Chinese tourists, resulting in the death of hostage taker Rolando Mendoza, a disgruntled former police officer, and eight hostages as of Tuesday morning, according to a dzBB report.

Kang kinsa kaha nga book, naa ba diay sa book ang maso ug pisi......
proper negotiation hinoon, kahibalo sila nga nag-monitor si Mendoza sa TV nganong ila man gidakop iyang igsoon, it's a clear act of instigation, ngano man diay kung ila lang gyud gisabot ang igsoon ang give him a clear view kung unsay mahitabo if mo-fail ang negotiation.
