Cebu City south district Rep. Tomas Osmeņa said if Cebu “picked a fight” with Governor Gwendolyn Garcia after it decided to give P500,000 to Daanbantayan then it was Garcia who first decided to pick a fight with Cebu City.
The former city mayor said Garcia may have already forgotten that the Province of Cebu, through her initiatives, also donated P5 million for the construction of a school building in Barangay Lahug.
“Wow! Gwen considers the city’s giving of financial help to Daanbantayan as that we are picking a fight with her? So that was the reason she gave P5 million for a Lahug school? So that’s why she is giving P5 million to the city’s fire victims?” Osmeņa said.
The governor offered P5 million to Lahug after barangay captain Mary Ann de los Santos initiated a “piso-piso campaign” by asking donations from schoolchildren to help construct a school building.
