Personally I like to use Trillian Pro (at home) or Meebo (mobile)

I use mainly Windows Live Messenger (previously MSN Messenger) for 2 reasons:
-instant notification for new email on my Hotmail Inbox
-I get to see who's online on my 'Xbox Live Friends List'

Hate the other stuff that comes with it though.... like winks, nudges, colorful annoying backgrounds and stuff. People seem to abuse it...

MIRANDA.. super customizable and has lots of clients supported, plus its open source but a word of caution, this is not for the patient user, labad gyud ni siya sa ulo at first at grabe ka daghan ug settings but its customizability is its top feature and there are hundreds of plug-ins for it.. basta try it.

Trillian Pro, it's because i'm not a regular YM or MSN messenger user. I just love to check stuff or login whenever I'm bored so it's trillian for me all the way.
