(REPOST) Yes, I understand the Intellectual Property issues and the ethical issues and all that, but thinking like that is just as naive as parents believing that their 16-year-old child will avoid ***, drugs and drinking SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY ARE TOLD SO.

The face of music distribution has changed. Preaching "NO TO PIRACY" or "NO TO DOWNLOADING" isn't going to work. And this is coming from ME, me being a guy who's currently spending a shit load of money to record original music.

Well karon nga ang mga taw kusog kaayo mang download ug bootleg ug mga kanta, pait kaayo para sa mga independent artists... especially sa mga DIY artists. They spend time and money to make, promote, and distribute their music pero they're not making much `cause most people would rather download it or have someone give them copies instead.

Bisag diri sa ISTORYA.NET .. daghan kaayong mangayo ug mga mp3. Mag pasa-pasa ug mga files - bisag ang mga local artists, di pa gyud tabangan. I frown upon these people, everytime maka kita kog thread about bootlegging, ako dayon nang i -delete, way daghang pangutana. They have no idea how hard it is for a struggling artist to come up with their stuff without any help with the funding ... tanan gasto gikan sa ilang kaugalingong bulsa, then i-download lang diay sa mga oplok nga di lang gyud mo gasto ug pila ka peses para lang ikatabang sa bandang naninguha.

WITH FAST GROWING TECHNOLOGY, CONTROLLING PIRACY IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE.

we cant stop piracy.. not now..
to make records sell, i think we have to put something in our album, the packaging, etc...

like inserting free tickets or discount coupon on a certain show,.,.

just my idea...

another idea... for all struggling indie artists like myself.. hope some indie org can do us a favor by organising indie music shows, seminars, bisag unsa bsta lang maka share sa orig music and exposure...

naa kay punto ani carlo pero piracy wouldnt be rampant unta diri sa pilipinas kun di pa tungod sa atong negligence pud sa intellectual property rights issues. di man gud ta stricto aning mga butanga. akong pasabot kay ang pinoy kasagaran kuwang ug respitar sa bala-od. a matter of principles ba. for example, di ni siya related ha pero ang prinsipyo ani aking gusto ipa-sabot - nganong kung adto ta sa la-in nga nasod, kung naay nakasulat nga dont walk, di man ta molabang pero kung nana ta diri, pwerte gyud natong violate ana. sa driving pud, bisan solid yellow line, mo-overtake gihapon pero kung naa ta sa lain nga nasod, do we do that? most unlikely siguro. so bottomline ani is that, tungod ra pud na nato... daghan siya'g underlying issues ani nga topic. by the way, nakabasa man ko ug similar discussion ani sa sati nga forum.

Piracy, or the simple sharing of music without spending is now just a fact of life.

The ipod? The cellphone? The Internet? As long as these things exist, sharing music will ultimately lead to being completely free and profitless.
