you did say step by step release of technology is a mere "advertising" so if we bring it down to its roots it was that man who first discover the light bulb and the use of electricity, there for technology. I do understand your point but your declaration of technology's gradual release is really out of bounds.

PRO-AMD man pud ko bai..and ive been an AMD user ever since..pero sa karon mejo kulatado sa Intel ang AMD with thir new CONROEs...

I dont swear to one company which ever gives me the better price for what i need gets my money.. for the past 5 years AMD has been kind to me =)

^^^ oh well..with the conroes and the amd price drop..amd will still give me the best upgrade path..allowing me to keep my DDR400 memory and my mobo..but if the time comes to build a new sytem again..and AMD still gets PWND by intel for the price/performance i wont mind swithching to intel.. i buy for the performance not the brand..although athlon64 sounds sexier than pentium4 pentiumD IMHO

i think if prices of intel 9xxx would hit 6k by october, i probably ditch my planned amd64 3000+ setup and go for intel dual core.

Your so right about Thomas Edison. for me, gradual release of technology is not mere marketing campaign, its more of a technological achievement. the marketing part only happens on the manner of distributing the product, of course, people have to buy it, so companies like Intel and AMD would have more money to throw into R&D.

Also, it becomes mere marketing strategy if somehow, your Pentium 2 runs faster than the latest Conroe, like you've been fooled by the reviews.
