There's a speicific reason why I started a topic about this in this thread. Please do not turn this into a State-your-problem thread.

The specific purpose of this thread is to discuss consumer protection for our broadband connections.

So does anyone know any active group battling for the same cause? Real paperwork petitions? Anything at all?

If your lawyer thinks that you have a case then I say GO and may the good Lord be with you. Please be careful though because taking on a big company demands a lot of time and effort.

Please be careful though because taking on a big company demands a lot of time and effort.knowing full well how the judicial system in our country works, that would be my last recourse. I'm still waiting for other options just like you and most of their unsatisfied customers, I already stated that if another competitor offers a better service, I'd be on top of their list. signed petitions, soliciting media's help etc etc.. hope somebody can offer a viable solution to this problem.

^^ OT:that's a very good place to start. re your earlier post referring to a previous case won by one of the members here -- manny amador -- do you know the details about it? maybe we can learn something from his case.

suggestion: I think you should try using Wireless LAN (some are not built-in type, like USB)...I think it's not illegal but chances are you'll be dependent on Unsecured Networks, hehe..In my case, I have a laptop w/c has Wireless LAN spec (Intel Cetrino)...I don't think if there are numerous so-called 'hot-spots' or unsecured networks in 'Pinas, who are much willing to lend some signal...

as for broadband internet service in 'pinas...I never really considered hooking into it bec. it's too pricey...monthly fee is too much for me so I just settled myself to i-net cafes, hehe..

i agree with Zerone_null that media exposure of your complaints might really help promote awareness to the general public...

some time this year, during an ICAC meeting, a top level official from NTC was one of the "speakers" he was mentioning about how NTC officials would roam around the city visiting internet cafes and (with their permission) test their dsl speeds and compare it with their subscriptions to assess if indeed those ISPs are giving the real speeds as they were advertised.

i think NTC WAS doing something about these massive customer complaints, i dunno what happened to it though. NTC is aware that there have been many complaints regarding advertised speed by the ISPs and the actual speed provided to the customers.

havent heard from that NTC official since then.

**side note, they were also addressing the VoIP issues during that time, globe was complaining about VoIP services offered by some establishments and it being illegal and sort of circumventing the telco carriers etc etc. globe lost the issue too.. hurray for VoIP!!

there is nothing we can do, this is how our world(RP) goes, only people with political influence and power can actually do anything with it.
