As long as they really act like corporations and the selection of top management is transparent and merit-based. But normally they are merely appointed and in that case high pay becomes a means for the president to appoint relatives and friends to juicy positions even though they aren't qualified.

In a corporation there is a board that selects the CEO and sets his compensation. In a government corporation, if I'm not mistaken, the top dog is appointed.

maayo unta kaning dagko kaayo ug sweldo nga nadawat wala nani sila mangurakot. hinaut unta nga kining ilang sweldo nga nadawat, naa ra dire sa pinas nila gigasto. ug mas maayo unta nga kining mga tawhana dunay daghan nga mga katabang sa ilang balay nga minimum napod ang sweldo.

this is nothing. more people earn more than this in private companies. talent and experience doesn't come cheap. we are even lucky that these people chose to serve us than work in other countries where they can earn more. and then here comes COA who shamefullly exposed them. if i was the one being exposed like this i would resign and work abroad and earn more without being exposed and put to shame. this is just wrong!!

COA shamefully exposed them? Remember they are government officials.
Ang COA ni follow ra ug memorandum intended to monitor the salaries and allowances of government officials.

How can they be ashamed if that is what they are really getting? Moreklamo raman sad na sila or diba ipakita tanan ang breakdown sa COA, cguro pag audit ani diretso lang walay mga pakita papeles mao nang they charged it as "extraordinary or misc expenses". Say for example Arreza, ni go public siya and told the media nga he is just getting 1.5 Million a year and kana konong na audit goes into project.

And for the people saying na ok ra ni nga sweldo as long as ilang gibuhat ilang job, toinks. They are appointed their for a job at the first place. Two million per month?......

wa ta kahibaw unsay breakdown ani ilang nakuha mas maayo unta ug ma breakdown tagsa tagsa nila

Senate probes GOCC execs' paychecks | ABS-CBN News | Latest Philippine Headlines, Breaking News, Video, Analysis, Features
“The finance committee would like to look at the magnitude of these abusive allowances that the executives and board directors enjoy,” Senate finance committee chairman Franklin Drilon said.

Aside from investigating the salaries of executives of GOCCs, senators also want to make sure the state firms properly declare and remit their income to the national government.

Drilon said he plans to file resolutions to investigate how funds of GOCCs are spent. He said the resolution will compel GOCCs to remit their income to the national government instead of leaving the money at the hands of their respective boards.

“We have the right to inquire how much money they have and why they have accumulated so much,” he told reporters.

Under Republic Act 7656, GOCCs are required to “declare and remit at least 50% of their annual net earnings as cash, stock or property dividends to the national government.”

Some senators said RA 7656 is being ignored by some GOCCs.

At a budget briefing for newly elected senators on Tuesday, Drilon said the national government does not have direct control over GOCCs’ funds, which are projected to reach P47 billion this year.
aw dinhi na makita if they truly deserve their salaries, kita na ang katag
