Long Live the creatures of Darkness!
One Ring to rule them all,One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.

Ungoliant the Great! Terrible to behold. It was she who brought darkness to the world by destroying the Trees of Valinor and devouring the Wells of Varda. It was also her doing that unintentionally revealed the "Feminine" side (the bayotness) of Morgoth.
Damn! One can only imagine how Morgoth trembled in fear, he probably pissed in his armor. Not even the Valars were able to penetrate and extinguish Ungoliant's "unlight". How could they? they were not even sure how to deal with this mighty adversary.
.....for here dwelt the primeval spirit Móru whom even the Valar know not whence or when she came, and the folk of Earth have given her many names. Mayhap she was bred of mists and darkness on the confines of the Shadowy Seas, in that utter dark that came between the overthrow of the Lamps and the kindling of the Trees, but more like she has always been; and she it is who loveth still to dwell in that black place taking the guise of an unlovely spider, spinning a clinging gossamer of gloom that catches in its mesh stars and moons and all bright things that sail the airs. (from The Book of LostTales I - The Theft of Melko)

What's that avatar of yours? it looks like a cross between a rodent and a pig. Is it edible? Looks tasty though.I'm not sure in Rivendell but we definitely eat rodents in Mordor.

Just for thoughts. What would have happened if Smaug The Golden was not killed before the War of the Ring? Too bad, he could have been a very powerful tool of the Dark Lord.
"My armour is like tenfold shields, my teeth are swords, my claws spears, the shock of my tail is a thunderbolt, my wings a hurricane, and my breath death!" —Smaug
He may perhaps be a competitor of Sauron for absolute power in Middle Earth. Since he possessed great power himself, he could prove more of an enemy than an ally. Since he was made by Morgoth and not Sauron, his allegiance does not lie with Sauron.
Time to log out.
Namarie! Aia Fingolfin Finweon!...heheh...
