The mission statement before was..."_____is a Catholic institution of learning that embodies the principles of academic....blah blah"

then we changed it in my time (kadtong time nga ni impose na sila ug uniforms, nga sa ilaha ra exclusively mapalit ang uniforms ug walay available sa uban) into:

"_____is a Catholic institution of higher earning that embodies the principles of academic...blah blah"

IMO, in the first place sayop man pd pag ka title ani nga thread oie, mao di pd ta ka blame sa uban nga maghuna huna nga ID sling, long hair, bungot ray hinungdan mag rally2 or ni react ug maau ang mga current students sa USC...the topic should have been "rule implementation issues sa USC" kay maka sabot pa ang uban mu-comment nga dili kau transparent mag impose ug rule/s ang school ninyo...

but naa gihapon uban dire nga kung maka react mabaw ra kau, kesyo wala nay freedom kay bawal na tag-as buhok, dili na choy2x tan-awn, dapat USC sling na gamiton, etc...DEYM!! nag fashion show mo or nang eskwela? i believe some of those rules are already there sa una pa but wala lang cguro gi-strictly impose...wa mo ka-realize nga partly ang mga students rman pd ang naka ingon ngano na strikto na inyong skwelahan, kay inyo man gi-abusaran ang "freedom" nga ghatag unta sa inyoha...mao na dha...

mura ra gd na sa office nga pwede ra unta mag internet browsing sa una, but karon gi block na tanan internet browsing kay naa may uban nga mag streaming, mag download, or worse, mag browse ug unrestricted sites...

No problem with the school. Well in fact, I like it very much (especially during the time of Fr. Roderick Salazar). I am getting good education out of it.
What I've been meaning to say is that the rules and regulations of the school are pretty inconsistent.
Now, the SAS is saying there's no such rule.
It's not only the ID Sling. I know one person once who wasn't allowed inside the campus for wearing a hood (she was a Muslim). The guard told her that USC was a Catholic institution, implying that Muslims aren't allowed inside the campus.

Now, I'm not saying that the ID Sling affects my learning or anything. But how about they use the Student's Handbook as a basis for their rules and regulations?
I wouldn't really be ranting if the only problem is the ID Sling (lol that'd be incredibly pointless to say the least).

Also, education is a business, but it really isn't easy transferring from one school to another (if you agree with me).

But anyway, it's typical. Officials of this country can't even follow the 1987 Constitution. I guess the truth is, we can't expect higher-ups to follow fundamental laws of a particular institution.

oh i see. a lot of posts here are ranting about the id slings, the title thread is kinda misleading.

you said "No problem with the school", but why do you complain about "pretty inconsistent" policies. inconsistent in what way? please englighten me.

you also said "I am getting good education out of it." well, if ur getting good education in usc then thats the whole point why you are in USC. do you get less from usc if u simply follow her basic rules? i dont think so.

as far as i know, those policies are very simple and basic! why cant you simply follow it. kung mo follow lang ta, way problema. basta, it all boils down to discilpine.

there are more pressing issues worth fighting for. why not complain about mga incompetent teachers, tuition fee increase, facilities, campus paper, baha sa TC etc...

and with ur example about a muslim girl who wasnt allowed entry, i think its not about the policy. its very clear that usc doesnt tolerate religious discrimination of any form. the problem there is the guard's ignorance, kuwang sa seminar.

rally is a sign of freedom expression..mind you that it was that so called rally that gave us our democracy back in the time of aquino.. also rallys are made because the legal and formal approach bound to be meaningless or was neglected, so for our words and thoughts to be heard we would turn to another approach and that is rally. if it could be done in a formal manner di man cguro mag rally mga tao.
