here's my thing: if you don't pay taxes, you don't have the right to criticize or influence any decision-making for the country. pay taxes and you can start blabbing, but until that day comes, the Catholic Church can shut their pie-hole.
I think there is misunderstanding here .. The members of the Church, do pay taxes. Besides there are many other taxes imposed and they pay that too. Only charitable, non profit church based organizations ( and this includes ALL CHURCHES and RELIGIONS!!!) are exempted from paying Tax but, have to report to the BIR all their books and accounting: receipts, donations, etc... Failure to do so means penalty! Why charitable insititutions are not taxed? Because it is the responsibility of the State to look for the good of its citizens .. but our government can not do all .. it had to have partners; thus, the catholic church, protestant churches, christian churches, Islamic Org, Hindu's, etc and etc ... come in. Why should the State taxes institutions doing what it should be doing: free school to the poor, feeding, housing clothing, hospitalizing, etc the poor citizens? Many among us are just biased towards the Catholic Church in particular .. and we even post demeaning thoughts .. I wish these should research first, before posting!
