no. reading books is a tradition and it has evolved from purely a reading medium into collection objects. it is like asking why are people still wearing wristwatches when their cellphones can tell the time?

i don't know, with ipad and kindle in the market....but they are too expensive for some people (read: for me). i prefer books, love the smell and the texture of paper.
